I find the IHM-09 to be the warmest jacket i have every owned, but it is not a direct replacement for a canada goose style jacket. If you want to be warm and look good, then the IHM-09 is the way to go. If you are in a super cold climate and just need to be warm, then it wont accomplish that as it isn't cut long or have a hood. THey both have their purpose, but IHM leans toward style and the CG leans toward warmth.

I live in NYC, where it could get pretty cold.

              Thanks spork.

I think I'm leaning toward the IHM-09.  It actually doesn't even make much sense for me to have a much warmer jacket since most of my time is spent in a car or building.  But it's good to have for travel, etc.  Winter is almost over, so I may just get it next season.

Ok folks, for the owners of this jacket (or the IHM-01, 03, 04) any suggestion on how to wash this?

^ Speaking as someone who doesn't yet own this fine jacket: Alpaca is usually dry cleaned, though it might be able to be hand washed in cold…. Changes in temperature for wet untreated alpaca result in extreme shrinkage and felting (think baby jacket). However, there are also some treatments out there that make alpaca machine washable so I really can't say for sure….

I washed it (IHM-01) 4 or 5 times (mashine wash on 40 degrees low spin). No probs.

                    Enjoy ya addiction!

IHM-01 does not have the Alpaca lining, so it is not as problematical.

Haraki said he would wash very gently in cool water with no spin or tumble dry.

For the ones with alpaca lining I would just dry clean to be on the safe side. That's what I'm going to do once I have to clean my RMC N1.

I think it looks fine.  Waist, length and sleeves are all good and you can buttoned it up.
