      Nice one @Snowy .
The black o-ring; is it a kind of plug?
But what about this recess on the left side.
And if this is standing on a Fire King mug box, it must be pony.

Nope, not a plug of any kind (I'll rule it out all together. I was waiting for @Seul to have a guess along those lines, but sometimes it's a little too easy I guess).

Nope gents. I picked it up in Japan due to it's unique look. It's oddly practical for what it is, and meets the Japanese aesthetic of pure simplicity and function head on.

There's a hint in there. It's not in lingo/word play either. It's useful.

                                  I was serious.

To me it looks like the and of a pencil without the lead and it appears to be a container of sorts held shut by a rubber ring….

I see what you meant. I couldn't work out why you would be talking about the big long fabric thing called a pencil case (http://www.2kool4skool.com.au/media/catalog/product/cache/1/image/9df78eab33525d08d6e5fb8d27136e95/P/e/Pencilcase_Flat_Graffiti.jpg).

I just re-checked the item to make sure it couldn't be used for that incase it was a lost in translation moment. It's still not a pencil case tho.
