Question for English shoe experts. I was in Debenhams with the wife (yeh, yeh…), and I picked up a pair of Jasper Conran boots with what looked like a Vibram Chrisy sole on them. Imagine my surprise to find that not only was it a Vibram sole but also the boots were ridiculously heavy, looked really well made and were stamped as "Made in England". Does Jasper Conran have a deal with any of the better known English shoe makers to make their boots?

They were brown brogues and looked like the Trickers x Present collaborations, or the Grenson style wedge sole boots (Fred?). Any ideas guys? Took my attention because they were below £70 on offer.

Do they look bench made?  If so, more than likely made in Northampton and will be excellent….

Some years ago I had some of the Grenson boots, and a pair of the Trickers collabs. I am certainly no expert of English footwear but the quality of these looked comparable. Having said that, the uppers on the Grenson were made in India and attached to the sole in the UK.

A little Googling has lead me to find a series of footwear which Loake did for JC….wondering if these boots could be a part of that relationship.

Ok, less of a question, more overall sizing advice. Not an immediate concern but will be soon enough and really want to avoid a screw up at improper time.

Looking to move on some IH shirts over the next couple months. However my lanky build is making sizing possibilities a bit tricky. Most shirts I could wear a small based on measurements and would fit great. However accidental shrinkage could easily push them to unwearable. A medium would be a touch more than I'd like in the chest, but would be more forgiving in length if it shrank a little.

Curious as to how the regs would handle such…throw down on the small and cold wash, air dry, and always pray? Or sacrificing perfect fit in order to maintain needed length with a medium? I know material needs accounting too...

Just realized they don't ship outside the US, and you're in the 51st state.  Let me know if you need a proxy…

                                  Thx Chris.!
Shipping to Can isnt an issue. I live in a border city and have a US address about 10mins away. Just gotta check what they accept for payment. Some companys wont accept a Canadian credit card (bullshit). Thats the only prob i have sometimes

JDL- its always easier to shrink a shirt then it is to stretch one. Prob better to go medium and shrink it on purpose to fit u. Shrinkage is def gonna depend on the material tho

Isn't most shrinkage going to come out of the length? How much could I realistically see in the chest? It's likely the better option, just curious.

I lost about .6" on the chest of my 75. Only one i really paid attention to. But im sure .3 -.5" would be normal

JDL-I can wear a sm med lrg & XL . The smalls and mediums get a warm wash, pull to shape and hang to dry. The rest get no special care. Just be careful not to accidentally dry the ones fit out of the bag ! That being said I like to buy them big enough to wash and dry. It's a lot work to handle a load of wet Iron Heat gear.

                                        madmonday's retired….I'm just tired.
