IHF Photo Book - Vol1

Totally agree about quality images, no cell phone snaps or hipstatics.
For me the real concept here is the people and the brand. We have 3000 forum members here, the brand travels the world meeting armies of enthusiasts and the expansion and development has been nothing short of staggering.
The story is the people, those who founded the brand, those who developed the brand and those who have made it such a part of their lives. Think of it as an expansion of "My Favourite Rugged Wear" with additions. The book should tell the story of the brand and the people who love it, and it should absolutely be a high quality item.

^that sounds like something I would buy.

Definitely time for IH to step up to coffee table status. Great idea Mega (though I myself am far too shy to appear).

Def up for helping out. A most excellent idea Mega [emoji122][emoji122][emoji122]

… think we should look at realistics of printing before going too far down the line..
Agree with Snowy.
Better to have an idea of the costs (photography, printing, shipping, etc.) before everyone gets too excited.

Wow, you Aussies are such fun guys to invite to a party

On a serious note though, the concept has to come first along with the framework of the idea, otherwise we're getting costs for what exactly?
-
For ease of image submission and compilation, we might want to look into online publishing companies that advertise hardcover books. Giles is right that those have sort of a scrapbooky feel, but it might be worth looking into for the sake of convenience.

count me in.
i guess this could sort of be the "book" form of a similar idea of the IHF tee. something for us and the community..

Could the tome be bound in 21oz denim?

great idea… i like that thought.

Structure? Is it a lookbook style, and if so is it organized by season? Or is it organized by category of goods? Or category of asshole modeling them?
This is going to be pretty cool.
-
It could be quite cool to organise chapters by fabric (ie duck), have a bit of a background on the process and construction of a specific piece (a case study if you will) and then pics of forum members wearing said fabric.
Would also be good to have a section or two on the other community based things that IH does…. fnC, denim carnival etc

Great thoughts and support guys, personally I think this could be a great opportunity to visualise many aspects of the brand, such as…
- Long term enthusiasts showcasing some more "vintage" items.
- How it is worn by different people in different locations around the world, including the JP crew.
- The social side (meet ups and travels).
- Production and design process.
- The retail operation at IHUK.
- Retailers in their environment.
- Brand evolution from denim (634's) to shirting, jackets, military inspired wear and some of the more experimental stuff (Pertex, Primaloft etc..), that other brands don't necessarily do.
- Collaborations (Wesco, Alexander, Viberg, Pinion, Jelado etc...).
- The people of Iron Heart.....basically us.
I think if we get weighed down doing something seasonal, or categorising by fabrics etc takes away from it being a visual media which encompasses Iron Heart as a brand, and what makes it so special to so many.

The budget should really come first, otherwise you've developed an idea without the money to produce it…
Wow, you Aussies are such fun guys to invite to a party
[/quote]For the record, Snowy and I are the type of guests that bring refreshments and cake to a party
-
How can you set a budget if you don't know what you're budgeting for? Am I missing something here Dylan?
I'd feel pretty dumb approaching a printers or publishers and asking them to quote me for "a book", with no idea what type, size, pages, content etc… How can you get accurate costing?
No-one likes vegan refreshments....well no-one fun
Edit: Apart from which T&A has said twice that he will talk to his printers, so lets see what comes from that as a yardstick.
