I used the White's HDLP that came with the boots, but only 2-3 times, just a thin coat and lots of brushing afterwards. Last time was just a few days ago, after I had to wash them as they were completely covered in greenish-brown mud;-) -
I've really taken to Whites. In my opinion as good, if not better than Wesco. Very solid, very comfortable. I will be ordering a couple of more pairs once my bank account recovers from the festive season.
Here are my Bounty Hunters, dress brown, nat CXL pill loop, vibram 100 sole. Solid boots.
The other pair are semi dress in nat CXL, single mid, block heel, close trim, comp half sole. Love them both…

I'd like it better if it were roughout…
All roughout? I'd actually go the other way- it would be better as a plain smooth boot. With black, I feel like roughout only looks good when it's pristine. As soon as you wear it, it gets dusty and shabby looking.
