I sometimes find myself longing for the good ol' days when all of my close friends and I lived and worked close by. We didn't understand at the time that those would later be referred to as the good ol' days.

There has been a shift here, and it's obvious, but not necessarily a bad thing. The heavy hitters from the early days of this forum are mostly gone, but they've created a foundation for all of us to build upon. I've been noticing a gradual change, and the forum has been gaining some traction in my opinion. There are some newer folks that have been contributing a lot lately and being active here. The lifeblood of this forum is made up of the people that inhabit it.

I know there have been discussions of trying to stimulate the forum to get that spark again, but it I'm realizing that it can't be forced. It has to happen organically. Only then will it be authentic and sustainable.

why do you only comment on things that you like? that's not what a forum is for imo! if I like something - I comment! if I don't like it or if something (to me!) is wrong with the outfit/fit - I comment.
it's not about kissing ass all the time…sometimes you need to spank it as well! be honest and let people know what you think that's right or wrong! 😠

i am writing this as a relatively new forum member, a counsellor and a human being.

when i post a picture or write a comment, i accept that i may not be acknowledged or i may be affirmed or i may be offered constructive criticism. i believe any of these outcomes to be realistic.

if someone logs onto the forum who's having a shitty day, in an unconscious attempt to manage their internal world, feelings and emotions, they may unwittingly project their negativity onto an unsuspecting other.

taking this example to the extreme, a forum can be used to "dump" negativity, consciously or unconsciously, by an individual in an attempt to elevate themselves or leave themselves feeling better.

forums replicate families. family can be good, bad and a mixture of both. so if a member, who hasn't received much acceptance, approval or validation, comes into contact with a character as described above, how might they receive and internalise that negativity?

imo what is absolutely essential is an awareness of where you are emotionally when you are posting comments in connection with others. this way you can possibly separate out what is your own stuff, from your response to what you've just seen or read.

i find these tools usefull; respond vs react….pause when agitated or doubtful...

i feel strongly about this thread. people can be sensitive as a result of their history and  people can be, as a result of their history, clumsy.

finally we are all entitled to our opinion, and just like arseholes, we all have them.

i get a lot of positives from the iron heart forum and the forum often leaves me reflecting on my part within it. much love to you all out there  🙂
