I just can't see it working with any of your gear. In fact I can't see it working with anyone's. Unless they on a raft or something.
-
I like it. Rain gear is meant to be loud and proud.
-
I like it too and the new flight jackets, one of which is in safety yellow too, but that was still pretty funny from @spitfiredealer
-
@Anesthetist great update on your CPO mine got better after a wash too and the 50/50 denim has lot of potential
Heeeei welcome to the yellow club
rock it, make it dirty, get some funny comments, i love it. MF will always split minds and this is great. If i receive comments about my "raincoat" i always laugh friendly with a big smile.
fabric is a deadstock canvas so the watchman is not waterproof and its not a raincoat, some wax it with otterwax @sabergirl @summ3rhays its reminiscent of vintage fishing jackets
Lots of info about inspiration of every item on CL's blog
Btw @Anesthetist congrats on the two shades version
-
@Anesthetist that is indeed a nutty jacket but it looks pretty cool on you. It will certainly look even better with some aging.
I just got a pair of the Californian lot 44 jeans. They are drying now after a hot wash. Curious to see how much they will shrink. Pre soak they looked kinda crazy, like I could maybe wear them to a rave…
-
@Jeef nice lot44 is a classic. True straight fit 50s style, post some pics if you can
@Anesthetist some pics of my watchman about six months ago when i got it
-
@davito you wear that jacket well. Perfect with jeans and sneakers. I'll get some pics of the 44s in the next few days.
I checked out the indigo metisse twill shirt at self edge today and it's really nice. They only had a small and an extra large though. I want to order it online but a little unsure of the size. i wear a medium in iron heart, I have the mf appaloosa shirt in a large. Thinking I would need medium in the metisse twill shirt… Anybody have this? How much did it shrink?
-
-
I have a large in the indigo twill Metisse and would also say that it is a really great piece. I gave it an initial lukewarm soak, spin cycle and hang dry as reccomended on christophes blog and it resulted in barely any shrinking. The blog and tyler at self edge in portland suggested it would tighten up a bit with wearing as it twisted and came into shape. So I'm planning on wearing for awhile before deciding whether or not to continue the light touch washing or a full machine run. I also tend to run large-XL in iron heart shirting depending on measurements, the shoulder extension pleats on the Metisse are a bit forgiving as well though.

After a hot wash my lot 44s didn't shrink much. Waist went from 34" to 33". Inseam 38" to 37". Everything else came down about .25". A little too roomy in the waist for me, so Im giving them a second hot wash now to see if I can get a little more shrinkage. Tempted to just pop them in the dryer on high but will resist that urge for now. I'll get some fit pics in a day or two.
-
You will probably get more shrinkage but I'd be hesitant to put em in the dryer.
-
@Jeef I've got a Metisse shirt, and can confirm it didn't shrink much. It's a lovely piece.
@seanocono and @Bluegrass the Metisse comes up in an XXL, which is enormous. 50.5" chest (about 25" pit-to-pit) according to Rivet and Hide. Given the lack of shrinkage, it'd work for you two big boys.
Lastly, there's a new black lambskin Campus Jacket.
-
Damn, that black campus coat is cool. The natural leather one is on my list for next year as long as they keep making it.
-
I won't put them in the dryer. Wouldn't want soft and wrinkly jeans or a fried patch. Or the disapproval of Christophe Loiron. The back cinch on these jeans will keep them up and I'm sure they'll look less baggy once they get some wear and creases. Got to embrace the full and manly cut of these jeans!
And that's a handsome jacket.
