How are everyone's unlined Black Tie / Domain boots holding up? I went with a 7" MP (low) Packer in Black Tie, but I'm a little concerned about how it will (or won't) hold up in the long term without a lining.

If I'm not mistaken, all of the boots Wesco makes are lined in the vamp area. The lining is optional in the upper part of the boots.

Sure they are, just not the shaft. It's more of an issue with tall engineer boots, but I was curious if the 5-6oz domain got more wrinkly/slouchy (in an "uh oh" way) without a lining than the 7oz black/brown leathers.

Khaki8, thanks for the info. Have you posted images of your packers? I thought I'd run into them at some point going through the thread, but I only spotted when you listed the build.

I always recommend lining the shaft of engineer boots to prevent that slouch. I lined my standard black Boss boots and they stand tall and proud.

My Jobmasters are the burlap leather, which is 5-6 oz, I believe, and they are lined.  It is really not necessary, and I would not do that again.

Well I think that's all the reassurances I need, everyone. Way to go. Here's the build, btw:

                    Wesco Packer
                    Leather: Black Tie
                    Height: 7"
                    Toe: Motorcycle Patrol (not 1339)
                    Heel Height: Standard
                    Liner: None
                    Upper Thread: Brown
                    Outsole Stitching: White
                    Midsole: Single
                    Sole Edge: Natural
                    Sole: Vibram 269
                    Hardware: Brass hooks and eyes

Not too wild, but I'm mucho excited.

What's the difference between MP and 1339? Just curious.

1339 is MP shape but accommodates the taller heel.

Got it. So 1339 is essentially the narrow last.

Yeah they are the same thing. It gets confusing because both the lower- and higher-heel versions are referred to as "motorcycle patrol" depending on where you look.

Very pleased with them so far though. Finishing is great. Construction is bulletproof. You've heard it all before…
