Alexander Leathers

That is all I have at the mo, Will@Alexander sent it to me in feverish excitement earlier…..
There's a back story, I'll let @mclaincausey explain….
-
So, I spotted a 1940s-era car coat and posted a question if anyone had seen anything like it, and Giles said he could have Will make it (which I had in the back of my mind when I made the query). Giles and I went back and forth on the details of the construction and materials and this is what we came up with. The lined pockets is a stroke of genius from Giles. Very pleased with what I'm seeing–this is a coat that takes names (but no prisoners) and rocks ass.

That looks stunning, well thought out @mclaincausey @Giles

Wanna see how it looks on someone fersure. Just sitting there it almost looks like 2 coats stitched together. Im sure a fit pic will bring me around tho

It will look quite a bit different worn than flat. The pockets go to from the placket to the side seams, so they contour around your body and will look quite different than presented here. Giles. I hope, will "model" the piece when he gets a hold of it!

Nicely done guys.
Closest thing I've seen to that in production is from RC.

^ I believe the inspiration for Mac's jacket was the RC.
Anyone know a quality leather maker who offers something like this http://shop.mushmans.com/?pid=77346956

My only fear is that the sheepskin lining buggers up the pockets. I felt it was a risk worth taking, as I don't really care either way as they will be supremely functional - both warm and cavernous. McLain can make the decision about whether we continue with the sheepskin lining or revert to flannel (his original request).

@tmg:
Those pics from Mushmans give a much better indication of how it might look, and I really like it - any word on price/availability G?
USD1,150. Once Haraki, McLain and I have finalised spec, we'll go into production. Haraki is taking a few for Japan, I'll probably just take pre-orders (we have literally run out of space in current offices - next door becomes available in a couple of months, yes we will be knocking through!!).
To reiterate, we have black steer, burgundy steer, black goat and brown goat.
-
Giles and I discussed a bit more spread and peak to the collar as well. I wonder if zippers could settle the lined pockets? We will just have to see the sample worn

I spent some time on the phone with Will@Alexander this morning….
- The McLain is being shipped to me today, I will have it Monday. He kept on telling me how feckin brilliant it is (I really do think he likes it....)
- We have decided that rather then having it unlined, we will line the sample black J100 with some lovely red plain Lochcarron wool (and twill in the arms)
- I have ordered some scarlet Ventile to line the red J100 we are making for @guillaume
-
Good decision on 2)
