Hey G (or anybody who might know), I have a question about measuring. When a new item comes in, do you measure the entire shipment (i.e. every S, every M, every L, etc.) and take the mean/median for each size? Or do you just grab one 'representative' of each size… or maybe two or three? Since we know there is variation, I've always wondered how you determine the average.

When a new item comes in, do you measure the entire shipment (i.e. every S, every M, every L, etc.) and take the mean/median for each size? We measure one of each size, and when we have multiple colourways we cross-check by measuring a few sizes in a couple of colours. If, as we complete the measurements chart, we notice that the differences between the sizes is not what we would normally expect, that will prompt us to measure more of each of the sizes to get a better average size for publication. There are always some small variations in sizing, so if by chance we have picked - say - two of the largest size Ls in the batch to measure then this would mean the published measurements are not entirely representative of average measurements for that size. But the differences do tend to be tiny, a few mm or so.
We realise that even a couple of mm or a fraction of an inch is important to many of you, especially in some dimensions, and we are absolutely happy to check specific measurements on any shirt ordered. We'll check and fulfil each order sequentially. This does mean that as the stock of shirt reduces, you stand less chance of getting one with your perfect sizing (but, like I said earlier, variances are usually very small).
If you have any suggestions on how to improve this process - without measuring every shirt which IMHO would not be particularly productive - then please do say.

No suggestions here. I think that is how I would do it too.

The measurements on page 8 is that the official Paula/Giles measurements? I could be caught between sizes again. I could use one more size L-picture…

There is no such constant thing as a "Page 8". The "posts per page" is a user defined variable. However the only measurements ever posted by me, Paula, Matt or Dylan are ours.
We don't trust any other fecker.
