IHSH-107 - 2014 Ultra Heavy Flannel Western Shirt
-
I'm also curious as to what Giles would wear. I guess a large for a tight fit…
Depends how that swimming has worked the shoulders! I think L for fitted, XL for layering seems like a safe prediction if one was a gambling sort.
All will become clear in the next 18 or so hours I am sure…
-
And it's so damned exiciting
-
It's really hard not to order online but wait a few days. Green seems to be fewer in numbers, right?
-
Just realised, by pure chance this 107 will go live on 10/7 (if you use the US convention for displaying date). That's my interesting fact for the day…
-
Usually my rule for IH shirts is to get a 24in p2p. The XXL is 23.9 and the XXXL is 24.2. Hmmm. The difference seems negligible but I don't want the extra 1in length of the xxxl. Atleast I have 5:45 minutes to think about this.
-
Oops. I meant the XXXL is 24.7in p2p. How much do flannels shrink?
-
I don't want to be a pain in the arse and I really hope that I have ordered enough of these. But we can't and won't put these aside because you can't be online when they drop.
We get a thousand and one requests, all with amazingly plausible reasons why we should make exceptions. We just can't do it, we have to keep the playing field as level as possible.
We won't allow staff or mods to jump the queue, they can only get one if there is one left after the initial flurry.
So please don't ask me, it just makes me feel shitty when I have to say no….
-
Well can you at least buy me a car then G?
-
I guess it is a…
Car coat...

Hey G (or anybody who might know), I have a question about measuring. When a new item comes in, do you measure the entire shipment (i.e. every S, every M, every L, etc.) and take the mean/median for each size? Or do you just grab one 'representative' of each size… or maybe two or three? Since we know there is variation, I've always wondered how you determine the average.

XL looks quality G

Hey G (or anybody who might know), I have a question about measuring. When a new item comes in, do you measure the entire shipment (i.e. every S, every M, every L, etc.) and take the mean/median for each size? Or do you just grab one 'representative' of each size… or maybe two or three? Since we know there is variation, I've always wondered how you determine the average.
We measure one of each size, and when we have multiple colourways we cross-check by measuring a few sizes in a couple of colours. If, as we complete the measurements chart, we notice that the differences between the sizes is not what we would normally expect, that will prompt us to measure more of each of the sizes to get a better average size for publication. There are always some small variations in sizing, so if by chance we have picked - say - two of the largest size Ls in the batch to measure then this would mean the published measurements are not entirely representative of average measurements for that size. But the differences do tend to be tiny, a few mm or so.
We realise that even a couple of mm or a fraction of an inch is important to many of you, especially in some dimensions, and we are absolutely happy to check specific measurements on any shirt ordered. We'll check and fulfil each order sequentially. This does mean that as the stock of shirt reduces, you stand less chance of getting one with your perfect sizing (but, like I said earlier, variances are usually very small).
If you have any suggestions on how to improve this process - without measuring every shirt which IMHO would not be particularly productive - then please do say.
