vibram 700 half sole… they have a pic here...
-
That's what I was afraid of. IMO a lug sole makes more sense with a logger boot. I like that sole on the engineer but wish he'd gone a different route here.

Being a curious fellow, i just googled donkey puncher, and what came up on page 1 was "donkey punch". OMG. Is that what he was thinking when he named these?!?! I thought it might be a cowboy or gold miner or lumberjack or something…
OK after reading down further: "A donkey puncher is the operator of a small steam donkey, a machine used in logging in the 19th and 20th centuries." - wikipedia

John told me that he had considered putting the recessed lug sole on these, the sole that Alden uses (can't remember what it's called but its the one where the lugs are barely visible when seen from the side). But he realized that any grip gains are low to minimal over the 700. Full lugs would be another good option. Better for some maybe, but truth is not too many guys will be a donkey punching in these.
You could always resole, or go for the Lone Wolf loggers…...

I've long thought there was an intentional wicked double entendre there but I can't prove it…

Great looking boots!

John has some vulcanized sneaks coming in natural, blue, and herringbone frogskin. Guess which ones I'm getting? December timeframe.

I'm torn between the natural and camo. May have to get both….....

Hmm, where are you planning to order from MCL? I wonder if SE will get these?
-
Yes. SE is planning to stock them. As is this shop in Aus.

^Thanks

Ahh thanks indeed. I was asking John to take my money directly but either way

Hey guys,
I'm thinking about buying some Lofgren engineer boots from Self Edge. I asked them about sizing and Tyler recommended going TTS to my sneaker size (I wear 11.5 in Vans and Converse.) But I wanted to ask about your experiences too. For some other points of reference, I've worn 10 in Red Wings (though a 10.5 would really be better, the 10s are a bit small.)
