No fake or rip-off
Uniqlo is just using the same name but the items have actually nothing to do with the PBJ we know.
Problem is PBJ doesn't have the trademark for "Pure Blue Japan" outside of Japan (hence why they are also known as Syoaiya).

So there is no direct connection or the plan to sell "fake PBJ"…but the uninformed customer might be tricked

and I have a H&M sweater that looks also exactly the same…so what? It's a damn common design...you will probably find many more brands with such a sweater.

Fact is, Uniqlo is doing nothing wrong from the legally point of view....morally it is another thing.

It’s not just that it looks like PBJ, it’s that it looks like PBJ and is called “Pure Blue Japan”.

but they (Uniqlo) are allowed to call it "Pure Blue Japan" outside of Japan as they seem to have the trademark.

and the design of the sweater is not trademarked at all.

So like I said, there are no legal issues here….but still it's not cool from Uniqlo to go that route as we can assume they surely know of "the other" Pure Blue Japan.
