    @Andreas1965:

Can anyone here help finding a cobbler/ shoemaker in Germany that can handle resoling of Wesco Boss boots?
I'm owning a pair of stock Boss boots with the vibram lug soles and want to replace them with thick leather soles,  like Brian the bootmaker does. All the cobblers I asked told me it's impossible. I rather think they are unwilling to do it because of the lots of labor involved in the task.

I could send them in to Brian,  but the shipping costs to USA are quite high,  and I'd prefer to have it done somewhere in Germany.

Is there a cobbler one of you can recommend?

You might want to contact him:

He was recomended to me, but I didn't have the opportunity to try him yet.

OK folks.  I have got a couple of pairs of Flightmasters heavily customised Packers being sampled for me.  But as Chris@Wesco pointed out to me last night.  These are almost the same and the production run will be here in a couple of weeks…..

Gotta say that I was not a fan of the Packer toe aesthetic, or rough out for that matter… but those brown rough out's above have changed my mind! I could get on board with those!!

woops, meant to continue in the same post. sorry.

                  Anyway
                  These arrived yesterday.

I wanted to play it safe with this make up (which is pretty much their stock standard boss) I just added the bump toe, 700 sole and natural midsole.
The only thing I'm not 100% stoked with is (and it was my fault entirely) the buckles. They give you the option of a "wesco" branded roller buckle, but I assumed that the other buckles were roller buckles just not branded and they aren't. These are fine, but they'll be getting replaced at some point.
Bakers was super easy to deal with, no surprise there.
I'm very glad I have my wesco size now, those IH collabs are really exciting. 🙂

mahlon, those boots are the nuts.  Very nice.  I too am curious about your thoughts on sizing relative to other brands. I have not jumped in yet on Wescos, but I am "poised" to jump!

Giles - Is that brown rough out pictured above a MP toe/narrow last on a packer upper??

                          Thanks Friday!!
@pillowPANTS @Bluegrass these are a size 10EE, as for a Viberg reference, I'm afraid I can't help you. Normally I'm a 9-91/2 in chucks or any non boots. As my feet are constantly cold, I am always wearing 2 pairs of thick wool socks. So when I sent in my measurements to Bakers, they recommended this size. It's spot on. I also printed off the Wesco custom measurement form from their website and took all the numbers and sent those in as well to help.
For a numbers reference these have an internal measurement of 11" toe to heel. My foot measures just shy of this with my boot socks. Sorry for the ramble. Hope this helps 🙂

Thanks mahlon, I sent the tracings in to Bakers when I bought my White's - I will check with Kyle - I'd expect they have a lot of experience with both brands and how they compare.

                              Anytime sir!
I'd be calling Bakers for sure, especially since they do deal with both brands.

                              …side note...
Anyone else notice Santa Claus in the background of the brown rough outs pic on the previous page???

It seems like almost all engineers done by wesco are on the mp toe instead of the western…anyone have any western toe pics?  weird to get a western toe engineer you think?

Not at all weird; they call it it Morrison toe. Muskhaven had some made up that looked fantastic, custom buckles too. I think @tatmantall had a pair. There are pictures of it on the forum somewhere, it looks like a Cowboy boot had a baby with an engineer. I like it very much and it's different.

                                  Think it, be it.

I am a 10E or 10EE in all Wesco and a 9.5E in all Viberg

Thanks mclain, just looked it up… the morrison toe definitely is really beautiful.  It also reminds me of Kyle's FH boots, and that's a very good thing...
