losing evra, ferdinand and vidic at one go is insanity. that's 3/4 of the back line that won the double 4/5 years ago..

Losing them and not replacing them is the insanity Louis, they have had ample warning and ample opportunity but chose to remain static. Sorry man, I know you're a United fan and I bear United no ill will, but they are totally to blame for their own demise so far.

I would go so far as to say that if they do not seriously back LVG in the last couple of weeks of the transfer window then they will struggle to keep him (Roja is a good start though).

But a strong club who will struggle to win trophies, look at how far Liverpool fell after allowing themselves to slip, no title in how long?

nah gav. i totally agree with you. when SAF decided to retire. there were alot of people going uh oh. and i think it's also partly due to the board as well with david gill gone. the current ed woodward doesn't show much commitment in the transfer window even though they say their willing to spend. for their tradition of sticking with managers utd fans can only hope LVG wouldnt be a repeat of moyes era.

that being said i saw a soccernet video where they were saying about how SAF and david gill hijacked transfers in the past (berbatov and RVP), that commitment in bringing players in compared to the current situation where they've lost out on major players they wanted to sign.

Not sure if this is actually pertinent to the discussion at all, as I know feck all about Soccer.  But from an "outsiders" view Fergie knew that the future was not rosy, all the good players were past it and there was not enough new blood or money to go out and buy new talent about, so he fecked off, so that others could take the shit.  Perfect timing.  Do I like him? No.  But I sure as shit admire him…..

you do have a point G. but as a utd fan, i choose to be blinded by my love for the club. hahaha.  😉

It is one of the finest experiences to make the Manu-tour at Old Trafford and to attend a play. Many friends are coming extra for this to MAN from other continents. There is no sports-club with such an international reputation, with loyal supporters world-wide. Sir Alex has built a fantastic club, now its time for other people to go ahaed. Nobody can be permanent the winner. Its good for Manu to learn this also.

I would argue that Liverpool, Barcelona and Real Madrid have such an international reputation, and speaking of Barcelona I read the other day that they are the 5th best supported club in the UK !!!! Madness.

G, I have had that view of Fergies retirement since the day it was announced. You don't have to follow football to notice when a guy decides to retire at the top because he knows that a crash is coming.

watching the man utd games is going to give me high blood pressure. defence is atrocious. such inexperience players and even those more experience centre mid like fletcher and cleverly who have been through seasons giving away the ball too early. it's like they all forgotten how to play football with the exception of rooney, persie and mata.

liverpool and man city on tuesday. interesting game, although too early in the season to get any good of it.

I'm riding high on the Spurs 4-0 win over QPR last night (Asian time). Granted QPR were shocking but more importantly, this was the first time in far too long that Spurs have looked like a cohesive team who know how to play with one another. They were excellent on the break and played a good attacking game that was a joy to watch. Lamela and Chadli look to be in the process of making up for the previous season and the former is becoming a real threat. Eric Dier is proving to be a great signing too with a lot of potential.

Liverpool next week will be more of a challenge but I'm confident!
