I really don't like lace-to-toe boots.  Something about it makes good boots look bad.  Throws off the proportions, I think.

Laces pick up shit and after time will abrade through the tongue,  the false tongue acts as a protective barrier and when it wears through, it can be replaced.  If you don't like a normal Kiltie, you'll feckin hate a welders false tongue…..
