I would not sea wash them. I would be afraid of how the saltwater would affect the denim and all the metal and patch.
I have only soaked my pair so far (4 times) .  No wash and no real attempt on cleaning them.
I do however starting to get cracks between the honeycombs. I suspect I could have avoided that by washing them in a front loaded machine. Thinking that the agitation they get in a machine might be good in some ways.  I do not know. This is my first pair of "heavy weight" jeans.
              I am still experimenting.
My plan was to keep on soaking them every once in a while  and then give them a 60 degree wash when they are one year.

Just keep on wearing them and the fades will come in time. It is not a race.
I think your pair looks great.
Some fit pics would be wonderful.

              Nizzel -

Thanks very much - yes I also have a "desk job" but try to wear these as much as possible and i love them. As you can see there are some nice fades happening at the top but looking through this forum I feel that I'm way behind. Perhaps wearing them in the ocean, or rolling around in dirt or something would help, if i wash them in the machine would that improve the contrast of the fades? Would love to know your thoughts!

                Hello guys.

Just another wee update on how these are progressing. 9 months in. 4 or 5 washes. this denim really is something else, so beautiful and the tonal range is incredible!

                hope everyone's well

I am not a fan of the cracking honeycombs. Anyone got any tips of how to avoid them.
I have soaked them 5 times. Perhapps I have not agitated them enough during the soaks….?

Anyone got any tips on how to repair them. I have tried with a needle and thread. Just to adding some stitches by hand to prevent the cracks to grow. I also used my mothers sewing machine at one point. Picked the wrong colour 🙂 and I was not very pleased by my results.

anyway I am not sure it worked. Seems like new cracks are appearing after every soak.

They are still wet in the pictures above. 248 days. 5 Soaks.

I get cracks on many Jeans as well, don't do anything to them and have no problems that way. But I would not know how to prevent or fix it, sorry. The slimmer the cut, the more likely it seems to get these cracks, at least in my collection.

That looks like to me they were worn for too long without a decent first wash/soak.  This typically happens when there is too much stiffness/starch left in the jean when first wearing them.  Nothing you can do to retro fix I am afraid….
