I shoot myself in the foot with instruments and music gear though.

Oh? Do tell. You have my full attention, being a musician myself and having worked in music retail for 17 years. Apologies in advance for derailing the thread.

I wear a medium on the IHSH-86. Should I get a medium on this one?

Will there be ANY shrinkage (even if miniscule, like half a centimeter or so) with a hot wash and hot tumble dry?

        Thanks

The 86 comes a little smaller than many of the other Iron Heart westerns, so a M in the 73 will feel a little bigger.  You may get some shrinkage with a hot was and a tumble dry, that is not something I have done…

So no shrinkage if only handwashed cold and air dried, I assume.

Would you say the Small 73 is comparable to Medium 86?

            Cheers

                I always check the measurements.

But sometimes things fit strangely, one reason or another.

You never know until you ask for specifics when it comes to clothing.

I'm not saying checking measurements is inaccurate.

What I'm getting across is that even for the exact same item, across 2-4 different retailors, they will all have slightly different measurements most of the time. Usually, it's not an issue. But sometimes reported measurements may be different, causing some potential headaches when the item cannot be tried on in person.

We always measure the same way.  And we measure again when we get a restock to ensure that any difference between production runs is highlighted.

This is the way that the Japanese measure.  Other retailers choose to measure in different ways.

So there are 3 reasons measurements between different retailers could vary:

                      1. Different measuring method
                      2. They don't bother measuring accurately, or when they get a restock
                      3. "Japanese Seamstress Tolerance".  As human beings make this stuff, there is some variation even between items of the same size/model

On the whole, you can trust our measurements, but you have to read them in conjunction with our measuring method.  We do, of course, make mistakes, but these are usually spotted by the more hawk eyed amongst you and are quickly corrected.

Ok, could be worth a try 😉 I'm not sure how to say it in english - often cord has a kind of "blunt / velvet"-like touch. I always found it itchy and uncomfortable on the skin. But that goes for cheap trousers I was forced to wear in kindergarten.
