Thanks. It really was a nice day. Not too hot.  I was a bit hungover, but we had scheduled a hike with some workout friends.

We hiked Mt Olympus. It's a short, but steep 7 mile round trip hike. Trail head is about 5k and the summit is 9k above sea level.

Early start to beat the heat.

Last 1/2 mile is a serious scramble to the summit.

        Fireball shots at the top.

Coming back down the scramble was tougher than the ascent.

The descent usually is tougher after shots! Looks like a great spot, I need to make my way down to Utah sooner than later

@DanielAFC not quite sure if casual or serious about shots. Never heard of such a thing. Do you guys generally do shots on technical trails/hikes?

@Snowy, half serious. 1 shot wouldn't really phase me coming down something, but alcohol on the peak is pretty common in mountaineering culture.

No dogs on the hike Mega.  My wife has flat out refused to film me so I need to recruit my kiddos.

Shots or partaking of a variety of things is pretty common and usually involves anyone in the vicinity and not just your own group.  It's all for one, one for all when you are up top 🙂

Made mandarin Yerba mate soda today:
                                  This is the ginger bug

                                  Ginger bug started fizzing today.

                                  Made Yerba mate tea

                                  Juiced mandarins

Put it all together and added sugar. (Only used a tiny bit of ginger bug)

Will be ready and bubbling in about three days… Will make ginger ale too in a couple of days.

Best part is the bug that causes the carbonation needs to eat sugar to live so when a person eats the bug it continues to eat sugar in the gut which speeds up metabolism. That’s right; soda with lots of sugar will actually make you thinner and healthier. The reason this isn’t widely known is because real soda is virtually unavailable unless you make it yourself…

Today I’m watching my first home-brewed soda bubbling away. It’s been about 24 hours and it has about two days to go. I also started a huge batch of ginger ale last night.
