Maybe this has already been asked, but…
What is the best assisted knife (essentially a US legal switchblade)?

Wow, those knifes look nice! Yea, I should have mentioned a price range… 😞 I sometimes forget how insanely nice (and expensive) the stuff people buy hear is. 🙂

                Price: about $100-$600
Size: pocket knife somewhere from Medium to small to micro
Use: general pocket knife purposes (paper, plastic, wood, string, food, etc.)

Benchmade, Pro-Tech and Microtech all make autos in your price range 4c, legally speaking none of them are
legal to carry here in LA but the laws maybe more relaxed in your area. Check those makers and see what
                  they have. 😉

Assisted openers is mostly old news. Kershaw and Zero Tolerance still make the best ones though.

Flippers with ball bearing pivots is all the rage now. Spyderco and Zero Tolerance make some nice ones

For assisted opener I would check out the ZT566 and for a ball bearing flipper I like the Spyderco Domino

Anyone know of a good knife that's legal to carry in Japan? I'm guessing pretty much nothing.

The only thing I can find after a cursory search is a 6cm blade length. My policy when in doubt: Swiss Army Knife. Everyone knows it and it's non threatening

I can get away with kitchen knives. Maybe I'll just carry an 8" chef's knife and a pineapple everywhere I go. Swiss army is a great idea. I always have a little one on my keychain.

Always know where your pineapple is? Swiss army knives are definitely classic for a reason.

For those curious, this is what a year or so of living too close to an awesome knife store looks like… All of them get rotated pretty regularly, I never understood collecting knives just to sit them in a box.

Why are most of your knives set up for right handed carry and the Dragonfly is set up for left? Just wondering

Good question! I've since changed it back, but for a bit I was wearing it clipped in my rear left pocket, and I swapped it so the blade would rest against the seam. Safety reasons, I guess.
