Has she done much shooting thus far?

for the last 13 or so years about once a year she fires every a 9mm, a shotgun & an M16.  she hates all of them & just needs something to build her confidence & work on her basics.

Not that I'm an authority, but if I were you I would consider a 22lr. If it weren't such a pain, I'd send you my Ruger 22/45. If you think you're going to eventually land at a Glock 9mm, you can get the gun and then get one of the 22lr conversion slides so she'll learn to get comfortable with a single platform. Jody likes her 19 for a couple reasons. It's easy to train with so she's proficient. It's big enough for her hands but small enough for her purse. She doesn't carry on her body (yet). Too small in her purse is no good either because there's too much crap in there and she wouldn't be able to get to it fast if there was a defensive situation

G23 here, so, similar gun. I do not edc it at this time though. I installed a lighter trigger and a grip but the thing really needs a mag release extender.

I tried REALLY hard to like 40SW and just couldn't get into it. Even got a brand new slide assembly and barrel and changed out my Sig P226

              Oh, you Americans  😉
I'm owning a Colt Government, but of course (Germany!!!) using the thing exclusively on the shooting range. I'm member of a shooting club, but it's just sports. The gun is securely stored away in a safe, gun and ammo separated. My interest in guns began when I was a part time doctor in prison and the wardens took me with them to the shooting range.
The 1911 is perfect for that, so reliable and easy to use. It's heavy, but that helps in targeting. I tried a Glock 19 and a 9 mm Sig once, but always came back to the 1911.

When I'm in the US full time (after my marriage), I will definitely get a gun. My future wife already owns 2, a Glock 17 and a S&W revolver (.38) I believe in the saying "you don't go with a knife to a shooting"  🙂

Wow, I don't think I've ever heard someone say how reliable the 1911 is as a platform. In fact, it's reputation is that it's incredibly finicky and a pain in the ass…

My Mrs keeps a .38 for concealed carry, which is a natural transition to .357, from there a 9mm is easy. In other words start small, but on a firearm that can still be effective. She also likes the feel of a revolver better, but is capable of controlling her dad's .40 if she wants. She doesn't push her limits much though, and is typically happy with what she carries

The redundancy is because I don't usually have all this shit on me at one time. In the office, my keyring is usually hanging from my door. When I'm running out to get some take out, all I usually have is my wallet, my two sets of keys and my iPhone. I only carry my firearm out when I legally can, or when I'm home

This is actually the second one. The first one had issues, but they took it back without hesitating. This one works like a champ. It's just "ok" with alkaline batteries, but I already had the rechargeable lithium batteries, and they double the output

Nice Doug.  I am always a little envious and confused about how and when the Americans are allowed to carry a handgun, or conceal should I say?

Re edc torches, my sunwayman r01a aaa is excellent for a 10lm.  A little bigger my zebralight sc600mkIi 18650 size is simply awesome.  I carry that as often as the situation will allow.

I could try to explain it, but you would be just as confused…long story short, depends on where you live  if you are current/former law enforcement, you're good in any state except buildings that prohibit it (some schools, courthouses). Adding to the confusion, if your state does not allow concealed carry, you can get a concealed carry permit from another state that will allow you to concelal when you are visiting

Ironically, the states that allow conceal carry have a lower rate of violent crime than the state I reside in which does not allow conceal carry for your average citizen, though that may change with the convoluted politics of Maryland

My everyday flashlight will probably change to an Elzetta Alpha this summer when it comes out
