John Lofgren (Speedway)

McLain, glad to hear the vest works well over hoodies. And would like to see some pics over your a-2. I was thinking to wear my FW air crew vest over my leather jacket, but it doesn't quite look right. But that is mainly a result of a bit of a mismatch between red brown of the leather and the green of the vest. Not my pic, but this is more or less the combo I tried.
Looks good with blue though, and I picked up the FW deck jacket to wear under it, as in this pic.

Interesting information, John mentioned on Facebook a few details about the provenance of the different components of his engineers when I posted a picture of mine on his timeline and said I was happy with how they were standing up to my and the Minneapolis winter's abuse: "It must be due to the combined powers of Made in USA (leather, soles & heels), Made in England (welting strips), Made in Australia (buckles) and Made in Japan (stacks, shanks and construction of the boots)."
These boots are truly a citizen of the world

I'm 8.5 Smokejumpers and 9.5 Lofgren with a gel insole I have a perfect fit. I could probably wear a 9.

I am solidly a US9.5 D in most brands. Red Wing digitally measured me as such.

Placed my order. Very stoked for the boots, and very stoked to hear they'll be here in June!
Bordeaux CXL.
New Lofgren last (same sizing as engineers)
Horsehide lining

Don't you have a thing for burgundy boots Giles?
Maybe there are tougher boots, and maybe prettier boots, but IMO the Lofgren's are the perfect blend of the two.
Here is the vintage boot that John based the last and design on:

I don't know how true the current design is to that vintage boot though. Guessing that he started with that as an inspiration, but ended up tweaking things as he went along. For example, height. I like the shorter height, but I'd be pretty stoked to see a later release in the original height too.

It is a gem of a logger boot. I have so far resisted the urge to order one but man it's lovely.

I'm not all that into burgundy, but for some reason the shade really seems to suit the boot IMO. Had the chance to see these back in December and I was even more impressed in person, and it was the up close and personal view that swayed me to the color. Anyone know if "Bordeaux" is a different shade of CXL than the usual burgundy?

Japanese horsehide lining, CXL, American brass hardware, oak tanned heel and sole, American vibram outsole and heel, English storm welting, Japanese construction. Like his engineer, a very global boot. You have to admire the dedication and his eye for design.

great boot Chiba.
would be all in if not for the curved/tappered heel (forgive me boot terminology is not my strong suit), i tried wearing a pair of white's with that kind of heel & i could just never get used to it. i loved looking at them cause they were a work of art, but in the end i just sold them away.
i fear i would do the same if i bought these . . .

the feel, but it might have just been a mental thing . . . . which isn't hard to imagine if you take a look at me :O)
so many people swear by this kind of sole, it can't be a bad thing . . . it just didn't work for me. i also think it's kind of danty looking & reminds me of a woman's heel, but again it's my own madness that's swaying me on this.
those boots look the bizness & will serve their owners well

I just noticed the stitching on the back going down towards the heel counter, how it spreads out as it approaches the counter…. So damn sexy...
