I'll admit my continued childhood (childish?) obsession with ninja hasn't left me completely. I'm re-reading Gibson's sprawl trilogy and still find the vatgrown, cryogenic ninja are still among the most intriguing characters in his universe.

Cool subtle pattern I thought. The have the Wabash shirt at BIG as well. It was a tough choice between indigo and tan colored hat, but indigo and ninja pattern seemed more appropriate.

Love the print. Interested in the subject. I know the yakuza claim lineage to samurai but I haven't seen a topknot and tats together like that.

If your interested check out the Japanese tattoo by Donald Richie and Ian baruma or tattoos of the floating world/bushido - legacies of the Japanese tattoo by Takahiro Kitamura. Long and short of it is that tattooing was popular in japan but due to politics and the disapproval of the shogunate they tried to outlaw it and also issue tattoos as punishment (one of the reasons why tattoos became associated with crime in japan apparently). Really interesting subject and highly recommend any of those books. The baruma book is quite expensive and you can get most of the info from it in the other two which are a lot cheaper!
