Just got back from my parents... The Brew n° 8 was good... Excellent smell (Sauternes!), too much carbonation and too boozy whilst warming up... But good!..

Also had a sip of Gouden Carolus single malt: nowt special...

All your Belgians pass muster, I haven't tried that particular variety of St Peters but they do make some nice brews so I am sure it will be nice.

Personal experience over reviews every day. Most folks seem to like that Duchesse beer which I think tastes like it's been filtered through a donkeys sweat gland

Delicious, delicious donkey sweat.

But you're right- reviews are only useful if you have similar tastes as the writer.  Someone who loves pilsners isn't going to get anything useful from a reviewer who exclusively drinks porters and stouts.
