i like your 02s better on you, but i'm sure in the summer you will be happy you have these 01s, plus a hot wash & a belt do wonders.

      overall great stuff mr. dead

I'm sure that everyone has different care regimens, but I've always put my 634s in the washer on normal wash (warm or hot cycles), and then straight into the dryer on a normal warm tumble dry, too.  I turn them inside-out before I do it, but otherwise I don't baby this fabric.  I haven't noticed any difference in the fades or anything, unlike my 301s07BK which get similar treatment, and have some fade lines from drying.

What's normal?  I'm serious, the Japanese can't believe how we in the West fuck up clothing on a "normal" wash.  That is because their washing is super-sympathetic…

My advice.  30C, slowest spin possible (no spin if that is an option).  No tumble dryer.

Not spinning or tumble drying is going to lose you a day- big deal.....

Giles, would putting them in the dryer shrink them at all? I usually do a slow speed spin cycle, but am still fairly new to the 21oz denim. I know with the 18oz, I've always stuck to hot soaks with some woolite only, no spin cycle, no tumble dryer.

There was really a setting called "normal" on the washer/dryer at my old apartment, and then you could choose a temp, cold, warm or hot.  Here in Mexico, I just send them off to the lavanderia inside-out, and say a prayer. So far, there haven't been any ill-effects.

Okay, I'll probably not bother with a dryer if I don't have to.

it might snug them up a little - wouldn't hurt to try inside out if you really don't like the fit - but won't do much if any i suspect…

Well, it might be worth trying. I don't hate the fit but they're a little roomy in the waist after a few weeks of wear. This was my first really foray into the 21oz denim, so I didn't really they had soo much give. Definitely a good quality tho.

I don't find these to be a skinny cut at all. Personally I love the roomy top block to the drastic taper.

I think people get misconstrued that these are like jeggings. They are not top block is almost as roomy as 634

I guess for me, I buy the 555 cut to get a "skinny" cut in quality denim with top notch construction. Obviously, if I want "jeggings" I'll get some crappy stretch denim from any company. I'm okay with a loose top block, but I like the 7" or small leg opening.

I have finally stretched mine enough in the thighs, I gave up when I bulked up and they were too much - I have slimmed down a bit and these are perfect now.

I know this subject has been covered a million times, but would I be safe to do a normal spin cycle wash with these 555-01s? Guessing using the dryer would be out of the question. I'm basically looking to shrink up the jeans a bit.

Regarding Giles' comment about 'the Japanese can't believe how we in the West fuck up clothing on a "normal" wash' and their washing being "super-sympathetic", I noticed in the past (20 years ago) that there were some big differences between Japanese, European and north American washing machines. Things may have changed now, but the Japanese machines seemed to be super-sympathetic to clothing as Giles says, European machines were less sympathetic and the top-loading north American machines I used had no sympathy at all and less wash options, but were capable of handling proper family-sized loads.

I shrank the top block of my 555-01s by making a 50/50 mix of water and fabric conditioner/softner in a small jug, which I poured into the back pockets and all over the top block, working it in by hand so the material was properly wet. After that I turned the jeans inside out and put them in the dryer on the low heat setting. The soaked top block and waistband shrank a bit, while the unsoaked legs did not. Warning: the unsoaked legs came out with a nasty vertical crease down each leg, which dropped out after a few days wear.

I recently washed my 555-01s for the first time on a woolens/delicate wash cycle (using Woolite liquid and fabric softener) with a low spin speed of 700 rpm. I did not turn the jeans inside out - I buttoned, folded and rolled them, then put them inside a hotel laundry bag with the top tied up.

When dry, the waist had shrunk by 0.5" (1.3 cm). The front and rear rise, thigh and knee all shrank by about 0.2" (0.5 cm). The hem did not shrink at all. There was no noticeable indigo loss.

                                            I was :). I love these jeans.
