I have a WWII-era USN peacoat as well. It's 70 years old and looks like I bought it yesterday. Good stuff.
any pics? I have a strange fetish for old clothes.

Yeah. That's not faring as well but it's still there.

Thanks! It's hard to imagine that I'm wearing the same coat that a US Navy sailor wore in WWII. His name is still stenciled in the liner.

Great story

Saw this great condition looking WWII USN pea coat on eBay, the auction doesn't end until Monday night - it's now out of my price range but thought some of you guys might be interested.
The bidding looks a bit iffy to me though - either people are stupid or they've got a mate upping the bid for them.

Got a new jacket… it’s a 1963 sateen field jacket model OG 107. Man is it nice! The quality of the construction is impressive, all super fine long fiber cotton woven really tight. The attention to detail is excellent… overall it’s one of the great military jackets out there. This thing just glows in the sun too!

While that appears to be nice, it's a pea coat and those are officer uniform prices. I could likely get one for a third of that with a bit of patience.

Someone tall slim guy should cop these original NOS sateen cargos I just found on ebay…

Great alternative to the cpo shirt! Was after a cpo shirt and came across the Korean field shirts which are a fraction of the price. Olive drab material that is 85% wool and 15% wool and is not scratchy and very warm. Great details in the fit too, especially the shoulders. Bargain for fifteen quid. Unissued and apparently from the fifties. I'm a 42" chest and this is a medium. Can't quite do it up but fits perfectly on the shoulders! The large fits ups to a 45" chest!

Just read something fascinating from left field about their flight jackets…
“Our Flight Jackets are made from the same 10 oz. cotton twill the Japanese military uses to make its uniforms.” ???
Source: http://leftfieldnyc.com/products/olive-green-twill-flight-jacketThe point is if Japan is still using good cotton twill for it's military than top quality surplus, which is rare nowadays, could be gotten for a small fraction of the cost and it would be brand new and not NOS.
I’ll do some digging, but if anyone knows about this stuff (Especially where to get) please post your info. That field shirt looks great Cutlasshound.
