Still, designed by millions of years of evolution the natural standing and walking position of feet is barefeet and flat, not on heels.

Where evolution falls short technology steps in… 😉

I am intrigued in these boots never have heard of them before i stumbled across this thread. I am very interested in getting a pair but I am extremelly overwhelmed by all of the options as this is all new to me. Normally id go try a boot on and just buy it always generic (timberland, redwing, irish setter, etc…) So as a Noob to this world and grade of boot How on earth do i decide what is right for me?? (besides color and hardware) anyone out there well seasoned care to do an "idiots Guide" to White's boots ? lol. Also i live in the NY metro area is there any brick and morter locations where i might be able to look, feel and possibly try on different options?

Thanks to all and any assistance and HAPPY NEW YEAR

Well, according to the White's Boots website, you've got 3 possibilities in Manhattan and one in Brooklyn:
                Kinway Shoes (20 W. 8th St.)
                Grahame Fowler (138 W. 10th St.)
                Tani (131 W. 72nd St.)
                Rugged Sole (77 Atlantic Ave.)

I'm not familiar with any of them, and the White's website doesn't strike me as the most scrupulously updated one ever, so the info may not be accurate, but it's worth a shot to check them out.

I've been to two of the places in the city that have whites:

Grahame Fowler (138 W. 10th St.) Amazing store, should check it out regardless of the Whites.  They have semi-dress in dress brown, maybe one other build.  Had the sizes I wanted to try on.

Tani (131 W. 72nd St.) Terrible store with useless staff - had probably two builds of whites but none to try on in 9.5, 10, or 10.5 in any width.  Staff could care less.

Can anybody help me with what they assume to be the spec on these so that I could place an order, I realise it's probably a difficult question given the picture but any help would be appreciated 🙂

PS the colour is hard to make out but I'd like em in black 🙂

                          Thanks again

                            Custom Semi-Dress by White's Boots
Toe vamp and upper (shaft) leather - choose black dress, black smooth or black cxl, your choice
                            Leather liner - can't tell
                            Edge - brown
                            Midsole - double
Sole - looks like leather, but you could do a vibram 700 sole for better traction
                            Last - standard
                            Sole trim - standard
                            Heel base - standard
                            Celastic toe box - single
                            Toe cap - no thanks
Hardware - antique eyes, or antique eyes & hooks (can't tell)
Pull Loops - can't tell, but it's a matter of preference
                            Heel lifts - standard
Toe bug stitching - no thanks

Im pretty much in full agreement with bluegrass, tho ill add my two pesos:
I think I see a speed hook on the left boot. Also, to me those look like single midsoles (brown stained or nicely aged natural) with 269 outsoles (I spot some slight black edge on the soles, and the pinstripe line through the heel). Also, due to the wrinkling around the ankle, I think they may be unlined. If I could recommend; if you're going with the dress leather, I'd suggest getting them lined. I have a pair of SDs being remade (in brown dress) that were originally unlined, and seeing as I had the chance to redo them I chose to go for leather lining for the extra $35. ( just makes the boot feel a bit more substantial IMO)

Regardless, they're a classic build; you'd get a hell of a lot of wear out of them!
