I feel your pain Finn…
I've had a scratchy throat all week. Moved out of my apartment yesterday, and by the end of the day my nose was a faucet. Woke up at 3am today with sinuses clogged to shit.
It's been 2 years and 3 months since I quit smoking. It's been 2 years since I've been sick. Blargh.

'Tis the season to be unwell it seems :(. My cold has been with me for a week so far. Not bad enough to take time off work (I'd have to be dying to do that over this next week), but just bad enough to make everything I eat + drink tasteless and for me to want to lash out at idiots at work more than usual :(.
Speaking of work:
A colleague regaled me with this little gem the other day:
Customer: "when are you open over Christmas?"
Cashier: "we're open Christmas Eve until 6pm, then we are shut until the 27th."
Customer: "what! You're shut on Boxing Day!"
Cashier: "yes, we're shut for two days."
Customer: "how dare you close on Boxing Day! This is disgraceful!!"I don't think that this customer actually complained to the store management, these types never do. They much prefer to bully staff.
And people wonder why staff in retail aren't full of Christmas spirit…
Oh well only 4 more days to go. Fully expecting the next three to be hideous :(. Although thanks to Seul I have a large amount of beer to look forward to when I finish on Tuesday :).
Silver lining and all that.

There was a reason I chose you for December mate… Completely feeling you (as we both kinda have the same job)... But I am much luckier than you are: I only work on the 24th (not on Monday nor the weekend)... Then the 26th and 27th, then the 31st... And that's it... Somehow I reckon I'll survive without knocking some fool's block of...

Sliced my right thumb open. Don't know how. Pretty bad cut. Went to unlock my phone with my thumb and blood all over the screen. No, I wasn't playing with my knife either. WTf.

-
my collegue had accidentally hit a wrong button yesterday, I couldn't place an order
-
after 90 minutes of shouting at an unwilling PC and trying to contact someone, ànyone who could help me (God bless the two fellars that wére able to help!), I was told I couldn't order before 5.30 pm... It was 4.15...
-
helped aforementioned collegue (who felt really guilty) for an hour, then was able to order...

what normally takes 20-30 minutes, now took 3 hours... Damn this season!.. DAMN IT TO HELL!..

Got told by my Store Manager tonight that "an email" had been sent from Head Office and that I had to leave a note for my supervisor who is in at 7:00 tomorrow - apparently anything dated 22nd, 23rd or 24th has got to be reduced in the morning. Which will be fun… More worrying is the fact that we have a hell of a lot of stock dated 25th, 26th and 27th. Which will also have to be reduced...
Never ceases to amaze me, the suppliers know we are closed for two days over Xmas but we still have stock come in dated 25th and 26th.
Fortunately I'm not in on the 27th this year.
3 days to go...

Was down at the cafe to catch up with my closest mates today, not seen in a month or so. He tells me his Dad's back in hospital, been there all week (so not good), then he tells me the doctors have told him that he's got maximum of a week left to live. He described further that at one point in the week they'd decided to stop giving him fluids and drugs and leave him to go out on morphine. It was over-ruled very late, so now he's on some IV fluids + injections of morphine every 4 hours, but is getting secondary doses every hour. Due to the way he is they can't let him self-administer as he'll do his heart in.
This has all come out of no-where, 6 months ago he was fighting fit as a fiddle. 3 months ago he had a bit of a scare in hospital, but had recovered to the point he was at home on no drugs at all. Now back in again and they're getting ready to pull the plug, within a week of christmas.
The 3 brothers are 22-39, with the father in his mid/late 60's. SO unexpected. Nothing that can be said to/for that.
2-3 hours later and I'm still mild shock. Life huh?!

That's horrible Wade, my own father died in much the same way. From strong as an ox to dead in the space of a couple of months. You just never know mate.

Ran out of gas in the generator … Son of a bitch
What do ya do without electricity and a busted foot?

My trusty dog is too smart for her own good. She bypassed my wife's security system and ate Christmas Eve dinner. 5 raw game hens.
Typing this from the vets office where they are making her puke it all up.
Straight out of the movies.

So far so good. I was stressing it all night, but this mutt must have a stomach of steel.
