James, you should buy CD's. Those look sick and 8,5 would probably work for you. Offer him 500 euros .;)

CD, why would you want to get rid if those. They look damn good

Hey guys- I recently got my first pair of Vibergs (IH Smokejumpers). After some debating and advice seeking I sized down from my usual 11 in Chippewa to a 10.5. It has turned out that these fit JUST right, and that the toe box is causing me a bit of agony. I'm alternating days trying to break them in right now. I've also never worn boots with a celastic toes box so it could be that I'm adjusting to that as well.

I'm wondering if anyone here can chime in about how they break in their boots? I've read a lot about people who go for a slightly tight fit and then break them into the perfect fit after a bit of time and discomfort. Does anyone here do this? Any advice, stories, or poetry would be much appreciated. I have high hopes that in a few weeks these will feel like the perfect fit (if they're still hurting though I'll have to sell if anyone is interested).

                Cheers!

Mine were a little tight at first (2030 last), width-wise, not lengthwise though… After a couple of days all was good... Now they're my best fitting boots.

For me it's mostly te width of the toe box too. The length is pretty spot on. It just hurts a bit because the celastic is hard.

I'd suggest BodyGlide.  I use it running long distance to prevent blisters.  Easy and won't eff up your boots.  Goes on like deodorant.  I use it when I get hot spots breaking in boots too.  Amazon, running stores, outdoor stores.

It took easily 2-3 weeks for me to wear my Vibergs for longer than four hours… Wore them for 8 hours today and the last two hours still weren't very comfy...

In the meantime, though, I'm keeping it real...

I feel very lucky, mine have felt great all along.  Stiff at first, but that doesn't bother me.  Never even a hint of a blister.  I think I'd return or sell boots that hurt me.

                                Think it, be it.

I assume the celastic toe box makes a big difference. If it were just leather I think it'd be a lot easier. I normally would not want boots that hurt me but it was too late by the time I realized it. However, I think my other boots could fit a bit more snugly but I never bothered with breaking in a pair, or getting one as quality as Viberg.

I love the idea of a custom feeling fit if I can make it through a bit of break in time. I guess I could still end up being the loser in the end though…

Trick is just to wear them until it hurts a bit (don't wait for a blister), then wear 'm again two days after and so on… The pain will go away, and you'll be able to wear 'm for longer...

If going to work in them: bring back-up shoes... Sneakers, preferably...

1st,  'prepped the leather with conditioner & finished up with a Red Wing Mink Oil [leather softener].  then, stuck shoe trees in them & slipped some cardboard to keep the vamp taut.  'set them aside for a couple of days to allow the conditioner/oil to seep in + dry up a bit.

2nd, wore them with thinner socks, then gradually progressed to heavier weight once they started to open up.
