              Real nice looks Snowy.

Forgive my ignorance: what is heel slip? Too much room between front and back of the boot? Or your foot is lifting out of it?

Snowy - Heel slip is a normal symptom of engineer boots. It takes some getting used to but's it's a natural/inevitable part of their design and fit.

SSoL, Thanks. heel slip is @ the back where the heel rubs against the back of the boot.

seawolf, understand, thanks. I know this pair is the perfect size for me, just need to let the leather continue to soften/break in.

Friday, 9.5, they're not going anywhere, thanks for the offer tho ::). They're stunning boots that are crying for more attention, that's all 😘

snowy a good engineer boot needs to slip as seawolf explained, it will allow the boot to mold to your feet while you break it in.

very nice emceeQ and that cardigan looks outstanding on you. well done.

snowy enjoy buddy, looking good 🙂

I don't disagree about slippage but I do try to minimize it to a degree.  It your heel is too free and you stomp around as much as I do it's bothersome. Not trying to get blisters on my heels.

I added a hole to my straps when mine started slipping. It takes a little elbow grease to get to it but they wear so amazing when I do. Tiniest of heel slips, hard to even notice.

For thicker socks I stay with the original tightest hole on the strap. Insoles are also possible if you are uncomfortable. My guess is a heel half insole might be the way to go based on the shallow RC last. To me engineer slippage may take some getting used to, but if it's painful it should be addressed. Maybe I'm reading too much into your expression 🙂

                        Think it, be it.

I find it intriguing that people actually use the straps on engineer boots. Just my opinion, but isn't best to fit the boots such that you won't need the straps. My Lofgrens are a hair too big, but I've never tightened the straps. I just use the hole that lets the strap fit naturally round the boot, no tension. Stick a good insole in and presto. YMMV.

They ain't just for show, an engineer that fits should be a bit loose until you strap in IMO.

I've added a few tighter holes on 1 foot, we'll see. I'm okay with it slipping a bit now. It's slowly starting to soften up. Few more weeks and they'll be moulded to me and happy days :).

The facial expression; not one of my best, wasn't that bad tho. No blisters after a solid 2 hour's of walking, just a little raw.

One thing that I enjoy cosmetically about RCs is how high the ankle strap is. But it comes at a cost, it's not as functional/effective as it could be, at least for my feet. Ideally for optimal effectiveness an ankle strap should pull your ankle down so that it secures your heel. The "shin strap" of the RC doesn't really do that.

It's all goooood. Enjoying and learning along the way for sure. Won't be racing to buy another pair of engineers until these are seriously like slippers. They smell amazing, they look amazing, and they're amazing to strut around in. Bit fun to get on/off thanks to my high arches, but that's it up until last night's serious walk. Part of breaking in boots ::).

Snowy, you can actually help the molding process along by moistening the leather of the upper with warm water, either holding bit directly under a faucet, or actually filling a mister bottle (my preferred method) and hitting it several times to get it damp and then go for a stroll and do some squats each time you do this you will have the boots a little more broke in. Some leathers are better to do this with than others and the RCs are perfect for this type of treatment. Just my .02
