Off to work in a few minutes to in my Dept Head's words "bail him out of the shit". Only plus side to 3hrs overtime that I could out about yesterday evening? I don't have to wear my uniform (and I'll probably take Fri/Sat/Sun off from work while I move into my new digs… Wherever they may be).

It's happened here a number of times and I can't seem to make sense out of it. Are kids so fucked up now that this is what they need for fun?
-
Wow… We had a bunch of flash mob beatings here, a real rash of them, right in the middle of downtown. Some kids tried to get me once I think when I was on my way to the bus stop. They surrounded me and were insulting me and getting in my face as I was walking. I just looked at them and didn't say anything, wouldn't take the bait. One of them gave me a violent shove but I saw it coming and leaned into it so he looked like the weak little bitch he was; kind of bounced off of me. They then decided to move on to easier meat after that. Cowards, just like these sucker punching bitches.

I think the big difference is that a lot of people have lied so much to themselves that they believe that we live in a civilized society and they have let their guards down.
Situational awareness and a plan to either escape or defend yourself against multiple attackers should be a constant in your mindset
-
Can't disagree with anything you said, but I do feel we are becoming a more savage people.
Even with really solid situational awareness, some little coward can get you. Of course you help your cause, but one of the disturbing things is that sometimes there's nothing you can do.
Here's another example that happened here. Some fucking psychopath threw a goddamn Molotov cocktail at a bicycle commuter on one of the regions many dedicated, paved bike paths from a bridge.
What the fuck can you do? Really, nothing in that situation. Fortunately he missed the rider, but someone tries that, or hurling a cinderblock at your car from an overpass, or taking advantage of a blind corner to wrap your head in with a wrench or a sucker punch, or any number of other possible cowardly sneak attacks…
