Just ditched my 25 month old galaxy s2 for the new nexus 5 yesterday.

While the s2 was still performing fine for the most part it was starting to slow down and the charging port was getting pretty janky. I like the s2 size better but the n5 sure is fast and sleek. Better response on the touchscreen too.

I am currently deciding between the Xperia Z1 and the Nexus 5. Is it worth to spend the extra bucks for the Z1?

From a quick look they are basically the same phone with the nexus 5 having a better battery life and the z1 having a better camera otherwise everything else looks comparable.

I have been waiting for the nexus because it generally receives timelier software updates and it runs a stock android system with no extra bloatware other manufactures put on their phones.

I'd go for the Nexus 5.  Better battery life and stock android beats just about any other feature.  I'm considering rooting my phone just to get rid of the clutter Samsung and Verizon have forced on me.

Out of curiosity, why hasn't the HTC One gained popularity? The hardware looks beautiful

^Doug - they had delays with the launch which didn't help but mainly I think people just don't look at HTC in a positive light.  So when it was S4 v. One people would go towards the S4.  I've heard stories of carrier employees pushing the Samsungs on people who were undecided.

Interesting. When I was waiting for my 5s to be activated, I saw the One and thought if I were to go android, this was pretty nice

Yeah I was just in the market for a new phone and liked the One a lot but stayed away from it as it was already sorta 1/2 way through its market life and I have a weird personal hangup about that and phones

That's not that weird, I'm like that too.

So I guess that makes two people…

Three. It's only reasonable given how technology curves work to either try to head off the curve and maximize the length of time a device with be useful, or just always get the cheapest possible functional device that doesn't drive you crazy to use.

                      Think it, be it.

Ok now my Blackberry (yep still the one with the cracked screen) won't recharge through USB… Time to buy something new... Maybe I'll just buy an external charger since I have two batteries...

Right?.. I mean I love this cell bitch… It's slow, heavy, old-fashioned and obsolete... It reminds me of myself!..

Keep it rocking Seul, my iPhone 4s is now over 2 years ole and out of contract but I will not trade it in despite being offered an amazing deal on a 5S by my provider. No retreat, no surrender.

The screens on phones that are a couple generations old now have nothing on current gen phones.  Blah blah blah tech is always advancing blah blah, but seriously the new gens screens are leaps and bounds easier to see, especially in full sun than previous gens.  I was using my nexus 5 and my buddy's s3 side by side and the difference was night and day.  But then again I've been playing Ingress hardcore outside lately and it makes a difference trying to see them screens in the sun.

Got the external charger… But my screen's still cracked... So I bought... a secondhand Storm 2, yes the SAME phone, for 30 quid...

                                      One for spare parts...  😃

To round off the discussion I prompted in Random Questions last week,I ended up switching my iPhone 4S for a 5S. I've had iPhones since the beginning and never been disappointed so far so it was the logical choice, plus I just find all the Android stuff so painfully bland and (with the exception of the HTC M8 and the new Sony) so cheap looking.

Yeah that new HTC looks pretty nice… I'm sure my next phone 'll be an HTC btw... But in the meantime...
