I can't imagine that any single malt could be described as 'too peaty' but then, I do like peaty malts…

"Octomore has been peated at a staggering 140 ppm. This is more than two-and-a-half times more than standard Ardbeg, the highest of the other Islay distilleries."  -kl wines description

The best peaty scotch i have ever had would have to be Ardbeg Uigeadail, fantasticly complex.
In fact, any Ardbeg scotch is great!

Other that that, if you're a sherrybomb lover, Glenfarclas is your best friend.
And if you just like a good scotch with a bit of everything, Glenmorangie Original is one of the best.  It is apparently the most popular scotch.. IN SCOTLAND… Now that has got to be saying something.

Not really - most popular beers here are pils (Jupiler) and shite like Lefe, Grimbergen, Duvel,… Never trust the majority...  😃

My favorite Bourbon lately is Buffalo Trace. I can get it for about $21 and it tastes like I'm seriously underpaying.

That would probably be Johnny Walker, which is mostly shit!
Just sayin, the scottish probably know a thing or two about scotch.

If Americans created McDonalds i'm not sure that they do know a thing or two about burgers 😉
I guarantee McDonalds burgers used to be a lot better back in their day, but now they have become a product of excessive demand and excessive supply…

Are you saying that the Scotch you're talking about is impervious to such issues? I know nothing about Scotch, btw. Just playing devil's advocate.

Yet, the process that goes into making scotch is extremely arduous and takes a very long time. This causes potential supply to be much more limited than burgers, due to requirements for storage and creation of the raw spirit, let alone having it sit in a cask for at least 10 years.  This stuff is single malt too, meaning it is produced at the one distillery (with limited production capacity) and there is not blended with other, lesser scotches to add volume.
So to an extent, the scotch is affected, but nothing like the Macdooglez.
