Nice one Bullitt. Looks like quite an atmosphere was being created.

Yeah, that was big! But, to be honest, we're playing the first time international since 2001. So everyone is very motivated because it's something special. I think it's much different if your club is playing in europe every season.
I was for the first time at a football game in England (Wales, to be exact), the crowd on the terraces is very different to Switzerland and other countries i was at the games (Italy, Germany, Belgium, Russia, Poland, Austria). It's like they're not used to hear singing and shouts for the whole game. No one sits on the chairs. I blame that one on Maggie Thatcher, high ticket prices and very high fines for small things  😶
And if you smoke a cigarette, they want to kick you out of the stadium…

Couldn't agree more. I often accompany a friend to the Emirates (despite being a Norwich City fan) and am always shocked at how quiet it is for a 60K capacity stadium. Although Stamford Bridge was even quieter when I went there last season; it was actually quite amazing how so many people in a space that size could make so little noise! I've been to a few games in São Paulo (at the Morumbi and Pacaembu stadiums) and the constant dancing, singing drumming etc was quite something to behold.

Hope you're enjoying being back in European competition again, despite the loss in Swansea. Hopefully you can give Valencia a beating away from home in your next fixture.

Oh and i'm about as positive as Mega regarding our game tomorrow. Reckon it'll be karma for me dissing the lack of noise at the Emirates.

That's what i heard from some grundhopping friends too.
Sao Paulo is definately an other level than everything in western Europe, i'm jealous! One day, I want to watch a Superclassico at the Bombonera.

Thanks for you're wishes for our Valencia game. To be realistic, they're 2 numbers to big for St.Gallen. But in a Cup Game, everything is possible.
This saturday we play Basel away in a league game. It's gonna be a tough one too.

          Toon fan Mega?  🙂

Guilty, tried to give it up many times but your team is something you're born with and die with.

Indeed - fully expecting a stuffing on Saturday. Their forwards will be too much for us and doesn't help that Colo's out  😞

At least following England has been better recently - usually they're just the national version of Nufc; a constant rollercoaster ride of disappointment…

Respect for all the stadiums with high level atmosphere, singing and waving flags.
But you can find my IHSH here.

The stand holds 28,000 in a BVB league match as it's safe terracing.

WF - Are you in the Toon? I don't get up very often these days, and thanks to Fat Mike I'm stuffed for away games. Never thought I'd miss Freddy Sheperd.

No, not in the Toon any more - moved to London about 8 years ago for work. Had a season ticket though when I used to live up there. Most of the guys I went to the match with no longer have season tickets because they're fed up of FMA. I get a few games in down here - mostly sat in the home end though. Never really had a problem - was sat in the City end last season though for City vs Toon and it did get a bit hairy at one point. No fisticuffs though.  🙂

Not as bad a result as you expected today Mega, especially with 10 men for a fair ol' spell. Just as bad as I expected for the Canaries…

Personally I'm still stunned by Stoke's only goal at the weekend. And the extremely restrained (almost embarrassed) celebration by the scorer 🙂

Nope, just a hilarious fluke that Stoke will pass off as justification for us clinging to the Premier League this season. Of course, if we're relegated it will be a huge injustice, and nothing at all to do with the way we've played so far.

I take it that Hughes has not impressed you thus far? I thought he was bringing about a change in style, I saw you guys play earlier in the season and actually thought you were quite entertaining (the match where Pennant scored a screamer), I have never said that about Stoke before.

To discuss Newcastle, we've been playing well for weeks. We should have beaten Liverpool, Scumderland and Man City but for poor finishing, the play has been great.

Hoping the Chelsea result will see us turn a corner, but the Toon being the Toon I'm guessing we have a large beating waiting for us on Saturday.

Well, in my eyes he's not done much so far… I suppose there's plenty of time yet. I know that Stoke will never trouble the top 4 or 5. And that the Europa League is the best we can hope for, but is it wrong to hope for a better finish year on year? And something other than the 'rugby team' of English football ??

Certainly not wrong to aspire mate, but English football is in a rut and none of us are going to challenge the money clubs for a long, long time.
