Should've tagged me (Seul IH), as I don't really look at anyone's profile on FB… But I've had a look and the regular La Chouffe is a very well known (read: commercial) beer... And to be honest, it's the main reason why I can't recall ever having tried one...

These are two I do wanna try though…

Nah I don't mean to sound condescending, it's just that for some reason I've never had it before… It could be really good, but it's not on my list right now... Very few blond beers are, btw...

But I really hope you enjoy it!.. Give your wife a big kiss!..

Obviously "good" is subjective but y'all pour a lot of beer down the drain. It has to be really really bad for me to do that. Almost never happens to me.

Seul will be appalled that you dumped that one.  But the Grand Cru is excellent, I'll grant you that…

Karmeliet will get you sideways in a hurry if that's your ambition 😃

Taking the Grand Cru over the Tripel Karmeliet… I reckon about 99.9 % of not too experienced beer drinkers would disagree with you... I, however, am sporting a huge smile... We will talk soon about me sending you 5 kilograms worth of beer for postage cost... Something I'm mulling over, so give me some time... But first of all please tell me: how much did you pay for that last catch, Rafa (exc glass please)?..

C: it's been about a year since I had one, and I was in the mood for one then, so it did taste good… But there are many, many blondes I'd prefer (although blondes are my least fav beers, unlike 2 years ago)... It's very perfumed, somethng I've grown to dislike in a beer... Maybe I should have one again soon!..

same here…actually. looking that this is my last drink before ending the day, i wanted to make sure that it ended with a smile. also there was a tiny tiny midge in the glass...couldn't help it!

let's do so buddy…unless you're looking to send me brands i can also get at the local store. that wouldn't be too smart...as you might know already 😉

                          the last catch was:
                          Triple Karmeliet 2.90CHF +0.30
                          Achel brown 3.90CHF +0.30
                          La Trappe Quad 3.40CHF +0.30

                          so a total of 10.20CHF + 0.90

I dunno, if you're in the mood for a tripel, or in the mood for a sour, comparing the two doesn't really make sense.  I do prefer the Rodenbach style of beer (I can't recall if I've had this one, but I mean sour reds and browns to tripels).

Goddamnit I'm trying to quit beer, but I was looking for some Sammy Smith cider for D, and I just couldn't resist these bombers of hop bombs.

Green flash and Stone are two San Diego breweries that I just fucking love. Stone has been in this market for a couple of years now (I missed it sorely before it made it here), but Green Flash has just penetrated this market apparently.

Two San Diego-style DIPAs. Ruination has long been a favorite. This is the 10 year anniversary edition. I presume the Green Flash is the imperial version of their West Coast IPA, a similarly classic, canonical west coast hop bomb. These are SoCal's answer to similarly iconic NorCal brews such as Russian River's Pliny the Elder, which is sorely missed in this market.

Here we go, trying the Green Flash tonight.

Chunky mouthfeel, typical of the style. Aggressive carbonation. A little breadiness, a lot of hoppiness. Grapefruit, tangerines, mint, pine. I don't know what hops they used but I'm not sure they used the canonical Californian ones; Amarillo, cascade, etc. ah never mind it says summit and nugget hops. Unfamiliar with those.

Great beer, not astounding, blow your hair back, did someone just open a bag of funk kind of beer. But great. Glad it's not any better or it would be hard to set aside when I stop being bad and drinking beer.

EDIT: this beer should be served at warmer temps. Like many IPAs, she opens up beautifully.

This beer bar back home used to do Grateful Dead Guy night. Hippie music and $9 pitchers of Rogue Dead Guy. I rarely missed a night of that.

I'm a hop head and have never had the luxury of GF locally, so it has always been West Coast IPA.

My guess is that they handle other styles well but I don't know, and won't find out any time soon. More than happy to ship you a preview pack if you PM me your address; they had I think an imperial stout and other stuff at the store. I'm shipping ciders to D soon so it would be no trouble.

I've been to the GF brewery in Diego.  It's in a very unassuming corporate office building.  Stone's brewery in Escondido is a much better visit.  In regards to GF, I hope like you hops.  Lots and lots of hops.

It's kind of cool to see Stone and GF getting some love on here, though.  They were two of my favorite breweries when I lived in SD, years ago.
