Unpopular opinions

you should have open nominations like an elected official
Allowing the folks around here to vote is generally a bad idea. Just look at my avatar as Exhibit A.
Oh and on a different note, I've always tried to take a light touch to modding. I've preferred to allow the members to drive the activity, based on the theory that it fosters participation and a sense of connection. That said, I check in several times a day and read every thread and virtually every post. So even if I'm not visible, I'm here. Watching all of you…

You're kidding right. I think I burned enough bridges in the last week to leave me swimming home.
I didn't know it was that bad Gav :-\

I hate the "fitted" suit look. I think a suit needs to look classic, pleated, and a bit baggier than these skin tight, button hanging on for dear life look. If you wanna look like a boss, wear a suit like one.
-
My final unpopular opinion is a simple one, can somebody please flick the switch labelled fun again? I do so miss it when it isn't around.
Simply saying switch back the fun on again won't work. The members can't expect the mods and the mods alone to be able to do this. Everyone has to take some responsibility. It is simply not good enough to blame the mods, or new members or X, Y or Z. We all need to try and contribute to making that happen.
-
Enough with the derail. Fitted suits suck. I like oversized old man baggy ass suits. I look at people in "skinny" suits as immature and trendy. The only fitted suits I like are the stereotypically 1960's vintage look. Oh, and I hate when younger dudes rock the chino blazer that looks like it just came out of the dryer. Iron that shit, you're an adult.

JSJ just reminded me of this ridiculous article, which is an ode to materialism disguised as a pompous manual to manhood, as though one's possessions have a whit to do with what makes a man…
Also, the pretentious article suggests wrongly that a black suit is a must-have. Only for undertakers, priests, and waiters chief.
Unpopularopinion (actually a popular sartorial rule of thumb): black suits look out of place outside of circumstances such as weddings and funerals.http://www.buzzfeed.com/justinabarca/things-every-self-respecting-man-over-30-should-own

What did Z do?

I don't think that was blaming the mods for anything other than not being around enough, which they aren't. Absolutely they don't control the "fun", that is down to everyone, they were two separate points.
Anyway, I'm the last guy who should be saying how things should be done so I'm out of this debate, gotta go find myself a shallow point.

I think the mods took a step back when the forum started running loose like a train. We actually needed very little involvement for awhile, and Chris said one time "if they don't see me around, things are going well"
I'm not particularly qualified to handle people and drive things
Giles and I have always been diametrically opposite on handling things. He pays a lot of attention to the members and how they feel. He's willing to bend rules to make everyone happy
Me on the other hand, I quote the forum guidance/rules all the time. And just like in real life, people's feelings bear no relevance to me.
I don't think it's happened lately, but when I get bellyaching via PM, I will either ignore it or respond with some sort of menstruation comment. Judging by the fact that it hasn't happened in awhile, I think people have caught on
If you REALLY want a rag to have your period on, Chris is the fucking worst/best. He actually listens to all that shit and brings it back to the mod team
-
Chris is definitely someone I'd consider a friend (I threw up twice before I was able to write that down)…
Just so you guys know: all the hard work is really appreciated… And to add, not that it's relevant perhaps, but this forum is still the most polite, decent, mature and tight-knit one out there...

What did Z do?
Nicely done.
Oh, and Doug and Seul: you both suck.
-
Have you actually met him? Your opinion may change…...
This may be an unpopular opinion but, every time I have hung out with Doug. It's been nothing but, a great time. Doug and his wife are great people. Doug plays the roll of enforcer but, the dude is kind as can be.

Doug was instrumental in getting me into DDP Yoga, which has made me feel better than I have in years. I annoyed him with total noob fitness question, and he was nothing but polite, friendly, and accommodating, which must have been a fluke.

will you two stop kissing up.
jeez whiz.
