Well make sure it's a REALLY good tailor if you are gonna mess with em - but might want to look at other cuts if you want a smaller hem (i.e. 555). I agree with MC, although I know some people have had luck with tailoring…

Summer in birkenstocks might look a bit off but sure i'll just cuff em higher and should be grand.

I spend all summer in birkies and the 634S. It's a grand look indeed. I've had no need to taper. Let me know if you want to be flooded with images of 634S+Birkenstocks, there's quite a few back earlier in the WAYWT back around Jan 2013.

Yeah was looking at a guy called the Denim doctor from Uk, he looks legit enough. I would never get my thighs into the 555s, unless I went for a 35 or 36" waist.

Awesome, I'll have a good root. Are they in the general WAYWT or the boot/shoe thread?
          Thanks.  🙂

Awesome pics. Now, just have to wait for more stock in the 32".

I am not a fan of tapering an existing cut too but to each his/her own

This is my size 30 hemmed to approx 32.5 and worn cuffed

                  Cheers,

They are really nice, hopefully mine will fit like that, but the hem on those starts at 8" and the 32" will have 8.8". So I reckon they wont look as slim at the hem as yours.

I've had jeans tapered twice, and although the work was done perfectly, it just doesn't work… Either I imagined things, or it kinda fucked up the silhouette...

I'd suggest buying jeans that work for you, all the way from top to bottom...  🙂

Thx man, If you hem and cuff em a bit, hem opening will not be that much any more imho 🙂 if you like slim go 666 but 634 is a really great jeans, i always go back and wear em 🙂

                        Cheers,

I think the 666 are great - my first IH were the 666L - but since buying my 634s I haven't worn them. I have the whole 'big thigh' problem too and the 666Ls just can't compete in the comfort department. In my opinion.

It's worth noting that the grey 634s have an even more relaxed thigh than the standard ones. At least mine do.

regarding hemming w/ a taper: i highly recommend sending any pants you want altered to rail car fine goods.

they do great work. as long as you don't want them taken in too much, they will look fine(if the hem is 8.8, probably wouldn't be wise to go below 8")just ask them to start the taper like 10-12 inches above the hem, so it is gradual.

On an unrelated note, I think it should be considered fact that if you live near SE/VMC/DC4 your style goes up 1000 points.

What I have noticed though is that being near a store really takes out a lot of guess work about how much you'll like something. Really takes away a lot of frustration (and lost $.)  to those who don't have that luxury, the struggle must continue….

Ha that was so unfair.  I stand by the stereotypes, but none of my friends are like that.  Probably because most of us are transplants!  ZING
