@ DD you should check out http://threads.srithreads.com/. It looks at detailed JP workwear 100's of years old. I've been reading the blog for over a year, some really really amazing pieces;
Below is a "modern" piece from the 19th century.

Can anyone tell me what their typical experiences with packages at customs Chicago ISC when usps is the carrier? My boots have been sitting since last Wednesday morning and never had a package sit that long before. I've tried emailing usps regarding it but as of now no response.

Yep. Messaged John to see ifvthiscwas typical of his experience and he i fixated it is not. Told me it would probably be a good idea to get in the phone and start calling and keep him posted. I'm not the only one worries now.

Spent the last 30 minutes in the phone with usps…. Its official! My lofgren boots are lost in the mail.. Chalk another one up to worst luck in the world.

The internationsl manager told me that the last update showed they never left Japan. Total bullshit. So when I read the tracking off the computer screen in front of me she said "we can no longer speculate about the whereabouts of the package. According to the last sytem update the package is still preparing to ship. The shipper will need to open and investigation through ems Japan and they will have to attempt to locate it" and then hung up on me. In other words they are to GD lazy to do their job so they want Japan to locate the package for them in a USPS facility.

Im sure they will get here eventually. I have been in contact with John. Hes going to be sending the investigation papers in tomorrow morning. he said he thought the post office was still open but they are preparing for Obon, and everyone (with the exception of Lofgren and crew… Im sure a few OTHERS as well) will be off for a week. Nevertheless, John is a great guy and I am both stubborn and persistent. Between the two of us I am sure we will get this all straightened out sooner or later. Hopefully sooner. This is the precise reason I despise USPS though. Anyways, thanks for the positive vibrations Davito.

Damn tat. Sorry brotha–I'm confident it will work out. Mine are at customs allegedly.

I figured it might tage a minute but after talking to John and then the run around the post office gave me today I got pretty worried for a minute. Talked to MCL though his were ordered at the same time as mine and they are both still sitting there.

A couple of things:
Those of you who work at UPS, are $44 dollars in brokerage fees normal on a $62 invoice?
Can someone in California quote me a shipping price, with tracking via USPS, for what amounts to be mesh shorts in a small envelope to Montreal. (A rough estimate of size and measurements may be applied.) I have someone telling me it will cost him 40 bucks to ship a parcel to me, which I am having a hard time believing since grandmasterben sent me a lightweight IH flannel for $5.

Tatman…
I think it's always so that the sender of mail must investigate/get the investigation going on where the heck the package went...I've encountered this same issue here in Finland...
Hope you get your boots...
Thanks IJ, and yes lofgren is filing an investigation on his side as well with Japan EMS post since (despite tracking info depicting the boots at Chicago ISC) usps is claiming they never left Japan.

I wonder if it's all about the declared value and whether its sent as a gift?
