Just had some corn tortilla chips and noticed immediate inflammation. Nose started running, etc, almost an allergic reaction. I really do need to stick to paleo better 😕

My pre-order finally shipped the other day. Really interesting already, $100, for almost nil effort does sleep tracking, walking/steps, heart rate, hills etc. Really great device (so far 2 days in).

Not that it's changed my sleeping patterns but both mornings I've been in deep sleep when I woke up, which will help evolve my patterns…

Looks like a great device. Very similar to my fitbit which I love and use daily.

^yes it is very similar. I was looking @ that also, but already havewithing wifi scales (yes, i digitally track my weight daily). Buying into their system makes for a very nice single iphone app that report.

I've been curious about my sleep patterns for years, now i start collecting data :).

I used to think I was a pretty normal sleeper, but over the years, my wife has convinced me that I'm a chronically sleep deprived insomniac.  Perhaps I should take the plunge on a Withings or a Fitbit and see if she's right (like usual).

^Similar theme here. I used to think all was normal, I went travelling with a bunch of people, we went to bed and woke up @ the same times, I was utterly fu@ked of a morning and they were all fine.

$100 was/is a small price to get some visibility of sleep, plus all the other verticals it covers are a nice bonus.

The Withings pulse looks like a nicer device and does heart rate monitoring, but it does not vibrate like the fitbit.

Here's my sleep from last night (this has got to be some weird overshare, I'm sure)

Damn, that's cool.  And it indicates what my wife pointed out- it's not normal that I need 45 minutes to an hour to fall asleep each night.

Now I gotta go do some research on which device is going to slot into my life more seamlessly.

Warning about the jawbone one. You have to activate sleep mode on it. I always forget. If someone wants mine they can have it for $50 shipped. It's nice and the software is cool but I got it mainly for sleep and am too forgetful to have one that has to be manually put in sleep mode.

Withings Pulse is the same; It's the 5th mode (5 clicks) and then a single touch of the Moon on screen.

I haven't/won't forget. It's about the same effort as putting my phone into airplane mode of a night, same wind-down tech routine.

@Chris glad to have something you don't yet own already be of help 🙂

I don't think you can really go wrong with any of the current generation devices in the field, really. Jawbone would be the only WTF one I think, and that's because of it's syncing and I've read about many people losing the caps to it.

For me as a data & numbers geek, it's interesting gathering personal metrics that help explain my is-ness. Obviously it's very easy to draw conclusions from numbers in short term. I'm keen to see longer term feelings and trends. If I can literally hack my life to make me feel better real-world by going to bed 10 minutes earlier or getting up 20 minutes earlier, no brainer is an understatement.

So I've been back in they gym for about 5 weeks now.

I'm for the first time in my life eating right while going to the gym i.e. 5-6 meals a day and I'm finally putting on weight for the first time ever.

I've put on enough weight that my MBBs actually fit better now and the thigh are has gone from having slack to being tight now.  I might have to quit doing squats in the near future  😉

Started lifting weights 6 weeks ago and have been going good steadily increasing my weight but the past week every time I lift ( right at the start of my workout ) I get this throbbing headache and feel a little sick , I googled and found a few things about "weightlifters headache"
Has anyone had a similar problem and have any advise on how to tackle it ( don't know if it makes a difference but I had a cold a few days before the first headache )

I take a few seconds to let things equilibrate. On the topic of weights, I finally reached my goal bench press goal for the summer of 225lb. So very proud of myself 🙂
