Just got my Road Champs back from Willie's Shoe Service. They narrowed the shafts to fit my skinny legs. Couldn't be happier with these!

btw. are there different pairs (different leathers
) of MFRC's? just thought i should ask since the ones i tried on yesterday were a fair amount brighter!

Rafa you tried on the ones from the very first batch afaik, the color of the leather may vary from each production run a bit, however they should get darker by wear and tear. Some treat em with products

Also, I've treated mine with Pecard's which darkened them up a bit. They were lighter when I got them. I'm not sure which batch mine are from. I called and they were out of my size and then they called me back because they had a shipment that never went out or something. I've seen some that look almost black.

Raul at Willie's did a great job. I wouldn't even know that they had been altered, except the shafts are much narrower. I shipped them from NY to LA to have it done, but it was worth it.

Any thoughts on using black polish on the lighter ones guys?  I like the dark color and think the nuance of a paler boot peeking out from a dark polish might look cool.

my first pair is considerably lighter as well.  I tried the black polish like Christophe's but couldn't get it to hold well on the leather. I may saddle soap it off when i get them back and try the pecards.

Davito, do you have any idea how many runs there have been? Mine didn't come in a cool box like that but in a silkscreened bag. If I had the scratch I would pick up another pair, especially if the leather was different.

officially I believe 2 atm and the third to come officially but there have probably been some adjustments between in production. I do not have the box too only the old school bag.
the newer ones are coming in a denim selvedge bag without box afaik

That dude has a serious collection of Engineers and it's high praise that the RCs put them in the back seat. Waiting on these will be tense, especially since the sizing is such an unknown for me.

what is your usual size and what size you went for?

mine are the second run then. I really love these boots. I'm thinking about getting a pair of Viberg engineers next.

if you are half size down and wear good socks you should be fine. if they are tight wear em with thin socks or barefeet til they are broken in you will get a bit of stretch

Davito, go a half size down on the Vibergs from my RCs? I'm not buying anything else any time soon. Just thinking about it.

with Viberg I would recommend to get in touch with Giles here or with Viberg directly, they are the professionals. I wear all my Vibergs in UK8 standard width I like comfy shoes with enough room at the toes so its not everybody's taste

my RC are US8
