a fine list! we seem to have similar taste in music. im really not enjoying sunbather though, thought i would but sadly im not. orphaned lands new record, all is one, is great. i fucking love orphaned land!

One of my musical heroes, James Booker.

A documentary I can't wait to see made me think to post some of his stuff… First, the trailer of said documentary:

Goodnight Irene (played on a tacked-hammer piano*, sounds like this alien just showed up in an old West saloon and started ripping):

*Legend has it that when Booker was in LA to record these sessions with Dr. John's band, the producer proudly showed him a warehouse of pianos, expecting Booker to pick a concert grand. Booker walks over to a stand up tack piano and refuses to use anything else, much to the producer's frustration. Booker got his way, thank God, as he knew best.

found this live gem of a song I'm currently re-diggin on! The Dylan version is great, no question, the Johnny Cash version, you can't beat it… however this version is just a home run all day long and Mike Ness is just way too cool
