I'd personally advise a soak.  And I would reckon on about 1/2" shrinkage in the inseam, but also allow for creasing behind the knees too….

Thanks Giles, is there any reason these were treated differently than other sanforized models and not rinsed?

            Hey thompsoa!
gonna tell you the exact measurement of the inseam of my pair by tomorrow. not at home atm. so I don't have the wand around me…
what I actually did is, I wore them for a few weeks unhemmed, then I decided to let them hem, cuffed to the "right" length, send them to Giles (cuffed) and told Giles to hem at cuffed length + 0.5cm! that's actually all I did...no numbers no nothing.

When I soaked these they bled like absolute crazy, the entire tub was pitch black. Is this much dye loss to be expected and why do these bleed like that when regular indigo doesn't? A little concerned about the state of my brand new jeans so any input is much appreciated.

I soaked mine with hot water but they didn't turn the water that black. A bit greyish, alright, but definitely not pitch black.
I wouldn't mind much though, I'm sure your jeans are still very dark.

@thompsoa - had the same experience during first soak. I think these bleed more cause the warp and the weft are dyed, whereas in regular indigo jeans only the warp threads are dyed. Just my 2cents though…

Not strictly true, the Weft is enzyme dyed and will not fade, the warp is sulphur dyed and will lose colour.  That's the way Haraki designed it…..

Thanks guys, I soaked mine for about 45 minutes in warm water but removed them due to the loss of color that was occurring.

Giles, so this is standard color loss in other sbg models that are rinsed prior to selling? And is it due to excess dye or did i just rinse off a shade of black? I didn't want that to happen, when you advised soaking I expected the same situation as soaking other Iron hearts, and does this mean they are going to fade quicker or should they hold the color for the same duration? And thank you again in advance for the input.

I'm giving mine a hot soak right now, to see if I get them hemmed next week or not. In any case, the water didn't turn black (like wrote above)

I stand corrected: when I put them out of the tub, it was pretty dark. Curious to see wether they shrunk a bit.

The first batch of these differed a bit meassured size vs tagged size. Is the new run altered or are they tagged/sized as before?

The sizing is the same as the first run.  I try to keep re-iterations of the same jean the same, even if they were off first time around.  It is really difficult for us and you if there are different versions with the same tag out in the market.

FYI: my 555-03 shrank around 2cm while soaking. So around 1" shrinkage in the washer seems possible.

Well, as I've been wearing my loosest cut lately, these feel pretty snug . But the thighs and waist are totally fine, no noticeable shrinkage here. If at all, they feel softer now. Compared to the Samurai, it's more the tightness around the knees and calves that takes time to get used to.
