A talk with the Boss
http://halloffade.com/travel-blog-11-iron-heart-boss-haraki-the-iron-legend-of-the-far-east/
this is funny, hall of fade and gun are the ones using haraki's b/c grade denim they bought off the mill and pissed off haraki and now he's got to buy all that denim. saintkeat should have asked haraki how he felt about that
Hey,
First post, glad to be on the forum and great to hear some interesting points are being brought up from the interview. I'll just like to address this rehash from a not so pleasant history, to clear the air a bit. Gun from artist sourced denim from around the world on his own accord. We at Hall of Fade wanted to collaborate on a sweet pair so we were presented with several rolls with not a whole lot of description on each one. We saw 2 fabrics that looked pretty sweet, picked it, put it in production. By the time we found out where they came from, it was too late, money was spent, product had been made. It's a point in history we'd like to move on from and we're going to be as careful as is humanly possible for the next sets of collabs with other brands in the future.
Thanks Snowy and Chris for the references on Wiki! Page looks great and the information is a great read. Looked like it took quite a bit of effort to put together to form a story like that.
Chris, I suspect that the green tone added to the Zim cotton is an extremely light hue, that serves as a kind of distinctive branding. If you walked into a room with piles and piles of cotton, you'd know straight away it was Zim just from the light greenish hue. Well, that's my suspicion.
Anyways, looking forward to working with Iron Heart and their many partners for many years to come. I'll endeavour to write better articles or manage events that would make it very interesting for all of you in the near future.

Saintkeat, first off-welcome to the forum, we're glad to have you here. Second, thanks for doing those interviews.;) As you can see, they were an important source for the Wikipedia entry.

With great thanks to Snowy and Chris, we have a Wikipedia entry…..
This was a really really good Wikipedia article. Thanks to the guys that made it!

Saintkeat and Beatle talking denim (and more): -

Part 2 of the Denim Myths Series. Likely shot same day as part 1. That said Kiya's in a western shirt of some kind with IHSI-02 rocking. Interesting video by itself, likely should go somewhere else…

I'm shocked IHUK doesn't have any pics in the Instagram acct. Instagram is popping off. It's some of the easiest free advertising out there. You post a pic with hashtags (#) and then people can easily search your pics. I've been turned on to a bunch of new things, just from exploring. Facebook is a thing of the past. There is too much bullshit on there now. Also, you have to post a pic, no text bullshit. Go on there and search #ironheartdenim, #ironheart or #ironheartarmy. There has to be over 3000 IH pics.

I'm shocked too. That is one of the reasons that we have taken on a new member of staff. Currently our priority has to be to service our current customer base (which is growing ridiculously fast), not generate new demand that we can't fulfil. One of Matt's top priorities will be get on top of Instagram…..
-
That's an interesting information. I guess I'm not the only one that was shocked how fast new items (shirts!) were sold out lately. Which is great for you as salesman, but makes life hard for us customers.
-
On one level, it's not really great for us either. We hate not being able to fulfil demand, but herein lies the predicament:
- We never know what will sell and how fast it will sell. We can make an informed guess and the forum is great for helping us refine what we order
- If we over order, so that everyone gets exactly what they want, we will be left with excess inventory, which means we have money tied up in stock and we may have to sell it on at a lower price
- That pushes our cost up, so we have to price stuff higher, which is not good for you
- Or we slightly under order and keep our costs down
