MAJOR FRIKKIN UPDATE TIME !!!!!
Ok, so here we are only 2 weeks away from the start of the HWDC2 and it seems like a good time to remind people of a few things, and update you all on a few other things.
What you must do first !!
I want a picture of you in you brand new (or amnesty worn) jeans, right off the bat. This is your first update and the base note for everything which you post after. Make sure it is done.

This is not ready, in fact it is nowhere near ready much to my major annoyance. For the foreseeable future (until the programmers either complete it, or I pay someone else to sort it) we will have to stick to the forums. This is an assload more work for me, but hey, we all love the forums right?
Challenges
Here is what I said right from the start…...
**Themed Challenges
This is the part that intrigues me most. Roughly every 12 weeks we will issue a set of three themed challenges. Each competitor MUST select one of the three challenges, and MUST post their completed challenge. To give you an idea of what they will be , here are the first three (commencing 01/04/13).

Denim at the movies - with the summer blockbuster season just around the corner we have a movie themed challenge. Wearing your Heavy Denim you must either recreate your favorite movie poster and post the picture, or film a recreation of a clip from your favorite movie and post it up.

Denim Devils/ Denim Angels - post a picture and details of yourself doing either a good deed in your denim (if you're an angel), or a random act of spite (if you're a devil). Remember, Karma is a bitch.

Dirty Denim - As simple as it gets, give your denim a dirt bath, show them no respect, treat them like dirt.**
…....and it still stands.
The Message
This is going to be a personal journey with your denim, that you will share with almost 300 other competitors doing exactly the same thing in their own way. You will get out of this what you put into it, wear hard, contribute often, and throw yourself into this with reckless abandon, you do not have to think what pants to put on for the next 24 months…...embrace this concept and everything else will follow, your life will do the rest.

Oops. Here I am being a goof and what you wanted was a post with some actual substance
Okay then, here goes: IMHO a Pics Only update section with minimal text would be ideal since that would make it easier to see not only denim progression (and therefore more manageable for the judges), but also to determine who is consistently keeping up with the rules and spirit of the competition without having to sift through a ton of comments at the same time.
That said, having and making comments is part of the fun. What I'd propose is there be a Pics Only section with each contestant placing a link in their first post to their personal Comments Only thread section where they can elaborate on their pictures and people may discuss.
Anyway, I'm sure others much more experienced will come up with a more elegant solution but hopefully this will help get the ball rolling. Cheers

If it's going to happen, then the Pics thread would be for pics only. If people want to post and comment on pictures then that would be for the main thread.

If people want to compete in this contest, I would imagine that they would want to post wherever, and whenever possible, otherwise what is the point of competing at all.

The theme challenge starts 01/04, but when is the deadline to post pics?
I presume that the deadline for posting baseline pics is also 01/04?
Oh yeah- a pics only thread for the progression of the jeans sounds good, then the main thread can focus on announcements and general chitchat.

Deadline for posting challenge pics is 12 weeks from April 1st.
Deadline for baseline pics is when you receive your jeans (some people are waiting for a Samurai release, or Beatles jeans.)
Agree with you totally on the pics thread.

I combed through the last few pages but didn't see any news about the hats. Any news on them?

Hats are Beatle and Jimmys gig. Beats is out of the country at the moment, but I will direct her to respond as soon as she returns in mid week.

if someone doesn´t select a single challenge from the 3 given opportunities…is he/she out of the comp directly?
i would lower the time to post a challenge entry to 8 weeks...if we have 12 weeks of time, i think things are going to get really messy, since after 12 weeks one can already upload the pics/vids for the new challenge!

The competition is for jeans evo, I'm not going to start jumping on people for not doing the challenges. But, like I keep saying, you get back what you put in. Without competing in or completing the challenges you don't have much chance of winning the contest, and absolutely no chance of winning any challenge prizes.
As for time, one thing I learned from the last contest is that sometimes real life gets in the way. The time is set at 12 weeks to allow people the maximum opportunity to take part.
