Iron Heart in the Press or on other Sites

So IH no longer uses the Zimbabwe cotton, but US cotton, guess that's a pretty interesting bit of news(?) …
Yes, I have to update the website….

You can get high quality long staple cotton from lots of places. The fact that Haraki could switch it and no one, including Giles, had the slightest idea of the change shows that the cotton's country of origin is overrated.

I understand what your saying, and not trying to be a jerk, just wondering, cause he says specifically , HK:" When I started, Zimbabwe cotton was very famous in Japan. The quality was also very good, so I chose it. It has a long staple so it can be twisted tightly and it makes for good soft denim. If I wanted to make thick denim it doesn’t really matter if the cotton has a long staple to be frank."
I take that as he doesn't need the softest cotton anymore..

Not a cotton expert, will the origins of cotton make them fade/wear differently?
I hope I am not being way off here (and it won't have an impact on my interest in IH), but I would have much preferred to hear it first, more like a PR issue I'd say. -
Haraki buys the stuff he needs. He specs it and it it meets spec that is good enough for him. He did this years ago, he did not feel it was necessary to tell me because the end result is no different. Had he told me, I would have updated the IH.UK website.
I repeat, no one noticed, which included me.
As far as Haraki is concerned, he specs and buys the stuff he needs to perform a specific function. It's like when I asked him if the loop wheeled Tee's were loopwheeled, he did not know because to him it is largely irrelevant, if what he specs does the job, does it matter?

Seems obvious now that as long as it is a quality long staple cotton it matters nought what the country of origin is, but it also shows how easily a perception or even a "myth" is created in people's minds, most of us myself included believed the signature softness of IH denim existed because of the Zimbabwe cotton, lesson learned I guess
…

This is completely idle curiosity, but I wonder why the Japanese importer of Zimbabwe cotton decided to start tinting it green? Seems like a really dumb thing to do, as it would tend to drive away customers who want/need the cotton to be white for production and dyeing. Sent Iron Heart to another supplier, after all…

A talk with the Boss

this is funny, hall of fade and gun are the ones using haraki's b/c grade denim they bought off the mill and pissed off haraki and now he's got to buy all that denim. saintkeat should have asked haraki how he felt about that
