Speaking as an older guy, can I give you younger guys a small piece of advice? Take some of the huge wads of cash that you spend of clothes, and instead spend it on seeing the world while your still young, and before you have marriage and kids. Now is your time fellas, and it is a big and amazing planet, go take a look at it. I guarantee that it will help you with your feelings, and answer at least some your questions.

I totally back up Mega's advice. I don't have kids and am not quite as old (I'm 31) but I do wish that I'd got out into the wide world a little more and gone travelling for months on end before getting into serious work. There's a whole lifetime to cop jawns but the same does not apply to the freedom of choice you might have when you're younger.
That said, some decisions you cannot put off. Never wise to try and 'escape' rather than confront issues in my experience.
All best wishes.

I'll third that advice. See the world. Take some chances. Try working for yourself. Try to move to another country.

When I in my early 20s, I dropped out of college for a number of reasons, most of them stupid. I then spent a few years working and becoming steadily more and more unhappy with my life. I eventually decided to move 2000 miles away and finish college in a place where I knew no one and could have a fresh start. It was, without question, the best thing I have ever done, and all that my life is now is a result of that choice.
I was feeling trapped in my life and the decision to get away and forge a new direction was an incredible opportunity for me to grow and become a happier, better person. If you're similarly discontented with your life, then I strongly agree with the above recommendations to break out and go someplace different for a while. A change in scenery does wonders for your sense of perspective.

That is unfortunate. I'm sure it will get there soon, though.

Just read through the few posts ahead of mine and had to add that–and I'm not saying anyone of you is suffering from this particular disease, if you want to call it that--depression is not something to play around with and is definitely something to watch out for. (Speaking from experience, it can literally take control of your life.) Do the things that feel right and never feel ashamed, scared or embarrassed to reach out for help.
As for spending senselessly, I can always count on MadMonday to kick a little bit of reality into me. Dude's brutally honest, but he spits that real talk.

Ever have one of those days where everything you say comes across wrong, or is taken the wrong way/ not as you intended? That's me today…... time to go back to bed (at 5:15pm)
