Second soak done to get anymore shrinkage out of the way. Loving the denim on these, so much character to it.

Anyone else have 555-02 and is bothered by the visible stitching down the length of the outside seam? I noticed in ben2t's pic above that his are the same, if you look at the hem on the right you can see the stitching exposed like the seam is pulling apart. On my pair its visible down nearly the entire length now? Giles assures me the seam will hold but it's annoying me, makes the jeans look like they are not well finished. Never had it on any other jeans, is it just mine and ben2t's that are like this?

Soaked mine a couple days ago but im still having excess indigo rubbing off on everything, thinking they need another soak, how long is recommended

Geeman, you can see the stitching pulling apart on the busted selvage seam because your wearing a super skinny cut and your putting stress on the outer seam, hence the space. My recommendation is to buy a cut that's less skinny.

MikeC, it's definitely a skinny/slim cut but it is no way to tight for me. I'm to old for skinnys! If you look at the pic above you can see the stitching on ben2t's even when there not being worn so it's not a case of just stress on the seam, my stitching is visible on or off and was actually noticeable prior to the soak before I had even wore them. I'll try and post pics over the weekend

The stitching will not bust.  The tension on the thread on the outer seam is purposefully left slightly slack so that when the denim shrinks no undue stress is introduced into the seam.

I'm sure your right Giles but it's really unsightly and gives the impression of cheap finishing. I have soaked twice so you would assume any slack would have gone. It's a shame as the fit and the denim are great. I suppose if it continues to annoy me or spreads further I'll have to take it to The guy who hems my jeans and ask him to run another seam just behind the original to pull the seam closer together.

Im in no way a novice to the game, Ive just never owned a pair of raws before that had such an excessive amount of indigo. I understand indigo tends to stain certain fabrics, however, as we all know, soaking will release a lot of the excess dye. Handling my jeans leaves my hands blue, this is not standard in the game, so I was just looking for some input to see if I underestimated my first pair of Iron Hearts with standard soaking methods, any comments or advice is much appreciated

I've had a few pairs that turn my hands blue.  Seems pretty standard to me.  Just wear those shits and the indigo will calm down after a while.... in the mean time you may want to keep a towel to sit on handy and maybe some wipies for ya fingies  😎

                                    mine is much more noticeable.

EDIT: in my experience, the heavier the denim, the more frequently you see this.  I haven't really seen it on any pairs I own under 16 oz, but it's present to some degree in all the pairs I own that are 17 oz or above.

Others may have a different take on it…

No we don't because it doesn't.  Washing with a lot of agitation may, but a mere soak will not.
