Oh shit Joe, that's no good! Have worked with a guy who's had gout, was a slow recovery for months. Not well timed with your moving house. Fingers crossed the treatment's improved in the last 10 years!!!

Good luck Joe! I have a friend who battles gout, and he gets by ok. He still eats the foods he's not supposed to in moderation, and has an occasional attack, but in general, he does quite well with it. I wish a very speedy recovery for you!

Joe, you might as well go vegan.  Won't stop it, but might help control the attacks.

But be careful with mushrooms, asparagus, spinach, lentils and black eyed peas, as these contain high amounts of purines.

So, did a hot soak this morning to try and loosen it up, then finally got in to see my Doc. It's gout in both feet. Left, that was originally injured, is better. Right, my good foot, is unbearable. The weight of my comforter hurts. I've created a cane from a walking stick and am seriously hobbling around. I've had a shot of steroids, and now she put me on a pack. I'm taking 800mg of Motrin, 10-375 Loritab, and a bottle of cherry juice extract. Had blood drawn for a kidney/liver scan, and I'll find out more tomorrow.

Rough mate, sounds like you're getting good treatment at least (Have never heard of cherry juice extract, sounds interesting). Fingers crossed on the scans. (If you want any scifi book reccos, feel free to PM.)

I just had compression garments fitted from the knee down on my left leg to try and combat neuropathic pain from my bike injury nearly 5 years ago..  Im not sure how it will go, but its gotta beat long term narcotics.. if i can kick them that is.

Thanks everyone for all the support. It's been a hard week and I really appreciate it. On top of the bum feet, Its happening at the worst time. I took over leadership at a new company and its like, "hey, is our new boss the young guy with the pimp stick?"

Speaking of which, what do you think about this one?
