    @DrPat:

How will the wax coating of the new model affect cleaning it?  Will the wax wear away after a period of time and if so would it have to be reapplied proferrionally?

Double edged sword, does not stain so easily, but harder to clean.  The coating will become less effective with time.  It can be reapplied easily if you (well I know you don't, but you know what I mean  😃 😃 ) have a hair dryer.  There are vids of people showing how it is done on the web.  Alex1976 posted one from memory….

The spray coat which I added last winter hasn't marked the jacket at all, and i just sprayed a little water on and the coating seems to be working still…..which is kinda amazing considering the jacket has been in my closet for about 6 months  😃

I waxed a MF Deck with two cans of Barbour wax.  It's a pretty painless, slightly messy process.  But all in all, worth the time and effort, methinks. If anyone would wants any tips, feel free to PM me.. Happy to share whatever experience I can.  But as Giles says, there's a vid online.. It's a pretty straightforward process.

I've waxed a couple of things (jackets, shoes, children) just to see how tough it is.  Pretty easy, really.  If you have a heat gun, that works better than a hair dryer, just as a quick tip.:)

And before any of you smartasses comment about how I obviously would have no hair dryer, I have access to a couple, since the wife and kids use them.  So there. 😛

Just want to "big up" the IHM-01. The new waterproof version drops soon, and if anyone is on the look our for a true winter coat, this is the one.

Far more comfortable and practical than the Buzz or MFR versions in my opinion, feels basically like wearing your favourite duvet/ blanket all day.

                    Get some  😉

                      So, I waxed my deck:

                      I recommend this.

Please note that the fur lining is very heat sensitive so be careful with the heat gun.

Barbour wax? Did it change much colourwise?

                          Yup, barbour wax.

No real colour change but it evened out the appearance. It also feels heavier and more stiff.

After-pic here, but you cant really tell anything from it.

Wow, looks great. I'll treat mine eventually (spray, not sure I want to wax it) but I'm thoroughly enjoying this jacket. It handles light to moderate rain untreated.

great video & effort.  did the lining get burnt at all during your waxing?

I did singe the fur in a tiny place, but its not noticeable.

BTW: I used one entire can of Barbour wax. I think it could do with another cost of wax but I'll see how it fairs in the rain first. (Won't be long, this is England).
