TV Shooter,
Lol at Steve, I have known that guy forever, I think he knows everybody in LA. I am right there with you when you said skating is a lifestyle/mindset. I hardly ever skate anymore but for me I am a skater first everything else second. I have to admit I got angry when skating became "in/cool/mainstream", and for years I didn't want to be associated with all the new kind of people who skate. The whole industry is so "disney" these days it makes me sick. That event looks like it must have been a blast, where was it? That Chihuly piece is SO sick.

catching up from last week. i had an assignment that took me to Tangier Island.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tangier,_Virginia
the Island has been desperately in need of a jetty to protect the inlet for some time. the recent hurricane really brought to light how serious the problem is. so the Gov, Congressman and Army Corps engineers were there for the "photo op" ceremony of the signing of the funding to build the jetty. all in all, a great day for the people who live and work there. if you have a minute, read up on the link. it's unlike any place i've been and a real slice of Americana at the same time.
we prepare to leave for the 1 1/2 boat ride after a two hour car ride.
been over 15 years since i was here. it was when Paul Newman was going to make a movie here and the people of the town rejected it, even tho the film company was going to invest millions of dollars to fix up the piers and other things, because the script involved drinking and a "romance" scene. they're pretty religious.
many of the island residents (just under 500 now) use golf carts to get around
old time fishermen
meeting with the politicians
kids got a break from class to attend the event. they sang some patriotic songs as well as a quirky number about the island erosion and the Gov forgetting his crabcake sandwich on his last visit after the hurricane.
a spokesperson for the crabbers talking about how bad erosion has been to the ecosystem

proof that the WT's made it to Tangier!
the famous water tower that you first see off in the distance as you approach the island
the best part of the day! the locals prepared a feast for all the guests. the crabcakes were amazing. there were several crab dishes, all of them fresh from bay. fresh desserts…i called it the Thanksgiving before Thanksgiving. delicious. i love my job on days like this.

hello again! darn i've been slackin hard! well i ran into a major problem a few weeks ago. my dslr won't fire off pictures anymore. i tried doin stuff w my cellphone but it just ain't the same. gonna have to have it checked out. this was the last set of pic's i took right after Thanksgiving. Sarah and I took a little two day roadtrip up to Olde Towne Alexandria right outside DC. we did food and drinks the night before which was Black Friday! Sarah wanted to check out some art stuff and meet up w some potters.
this place is called the Torpedo Factory. as the name implies, they manufactured torpedos during WW2. in the mid 1970's it was converted into a Art Studio and workshop. Here you can watch artists make stuff and buy stuff. got it?
i was feelin kinda blue that day
